He gets a 70% majority and yet he has to be so heavy handed? Idiot. He has popularity, let the commercial stations slag him, they will lose viewers. The people love this guy.

In a single party system which is the only way socialism can work some members will always come up with a way to subjugate others so they can achieve complete control. It's basic human nature. There will always be an Alpha Male trying to excert his will on the rest. Democracy has no place in Socialism or Communism since these systems are governed by the will of the State and what is the will of the State? The animal who is more equal than the others who starts closing down TV stations and does away with the countries constitution.

The reason why Orwell wrote Animal Farm and 1984 is his dissapointment about how things went with Stalin. Stalin has betrayed the real socialist ideals. Stalin was a czar under the name of communism. Orwell himself was a socialist and he has proved it enough when he went to Spain to fight Franco´s fascists. Orwell´s 1984 was abused against the Soviet union and communism just like Stanislaw Lem´s Solaris was abused by Andrej Tarkowski who´s created a film full of religious myths, although Lem´s book was written from a perspective of an atheist. The book was atheist.

Further discussions about Venezuela will be senseless because we don´t know how people live in this country. I don´t know if they have the right to say what they think or to vote whom they want but that´s not the worry you have. America and democracy.... ha ha. America´s fear is the economical boom that could happen in South America because S.A. has all potentials to form a totally independent economy.

Don't try to explain away Orwell's leanings though. He was an arch anti-communist because he clung to his misguided belife of democratic socialism.

I'm sure there is a fear that a unified S.A. would pose major economic competition for the USA. Whether that will happen is another thing. Bolivar had it as a dream but couldn't hold it together.
