I wish there was a way that they could shear off the (relatively long) fur from animals without killing or hurting them, then somehow attach that fur seamlessly to a backing (like leather or something similar), giving a fur product that does not kill the animal, looks and feels as good as an animal hide/fur and is really renewable.

Ive seen rabbit fur stuff where the cut bits of fur (hairs?) are sewed into fabric, but the effect isn't quite the same. Maybe technology will come up with some way of using static electricity to stand 2 inch fur on end and glue the hairs to something. Because while there is decent quality short fake fur out there, there's virtually nothing for high quality long faux furs.

I'm talking about shearing- like they do with wool and sheep.. it doesn't kill the sheep- in fact, the sheep might not want all that fur on them in the summer time.

Of course, maybe in the future with stem cells they'll be able to just grow animal fur skin in a labratory without the animal..

well, the leather its attached to doesn't have to be real leather. It just needs to be something that seems like leather
