Donald Trump indictment: McCarthy says Congress will hold Alvin Bragg's 'unprecedented abuse of power to account' | Washington Examiner

Alvin Bragg was just doing his job. It was the American people -members of the Grand Jury-who indicted Trump, so who is holding power and alleged crimes to account?

But Kevin in Congress in 2020 did what he could to deny the American people the right to elect Biden as their President, so is anyone surprised that the man is now in effect waging a 'cold war' against those Americans who believe in the Rule of Law?
Not surprised at all by Kevin-Spineless Coward-McCarthy reaction to Donald Trump's indictment. His reaction shows the hypocrisy from him and his caucus who rather defend their leader and interfere on his behalf, instead of during the work of their constituents.

Oh dear, the poor man has been reduced to curses. Imagine waking up in the morning as the third most powerful politicians in the US, potentially even the President should a disaster take place, and then realize your agenda is being set by Matthew Gaetz. He might want to give up and spend the rest of his life fishing in a remote part of Wyoming (and why not?) -or he could organize to get rid of these fringe magnets who are weighing him -and his country down. A pathetic spectacle.

Any thought for all those jobs that people rely on to like, live?

Kevin McCarthy is a spineless coward and is by far the weakest speaker in the history of the US Congress, and made deals and promises to the MAGA Caucus to become speaker of the House Of Representatives, and now they are calling in those favors, which includes launching a fraudulent impeachment investigation into President Joe Biden, even though there's no evidence of him doing anything wrong and threatening to shutdown the government if they don't get their way. And it also shows he has absolutely no control over his caucus, who wants to support dictators like Vladimir Putin and take away funding from Ukraine.

Faust at least got something in return for selling his soul. McCarthy got nothing but opportunities to be humilated further. No power and no glory.

Would any sane person want this job?

It is the logical outcome of sectarian politics -when negotiation and compromise are replaced by conflict and confrontation, it may suit a need for a sharp distinction between political parties, but as a tactic, it may be inevitable that if there is then a difference within a party, that too becomes subject to a 'take no prisoners', 'no surrender' position, from which there are only losers, not winners.

Until, and unless our politics -because it is not just in the US- ditches this all or nothing approach we will all be on parallel lines, terrified that the other party is going to be in power and reverse everything that was put in place.

I don't know it well enough, but can the Republican Party rescue itself from Trump and his Myrmidons? They look doomed to be a minority party albeit with State control in some parts of the US -and this is not good for Democracy.

Kevin-Spineless Coward-McCarthy made his bed and now has to lay in it,because he made deals with the MAGA Caucus to become speaker of the House Of Representatives, and sold his soul and gave away all control in the process and now is paying the price and he has nobody to blame but himself for making those deals. Even his leader the MAGA King,Domestic Terrorist Leader,Pathological Lying Charlatan and Petulant Child Donald Trump didn't do anything to help him remain speaker. You reep what you sowed Kevin.

The Republican Party had plenty of chances to rid themselves of Donald Trump and restore their party, but they didn't and chose to embrace him and enable his erratic behavior for over 7 years. And as long as they continue to enable him, they will be doomed to be a minority party, and agree it isn't good for democracy.

'Darling, let's get out of this crazy place and run away to the mountains...'
'Honey, with your $10k we can go anywhere you like!'

Marjorie Taylor Greene received $10K from McCarthy ahead of vote to keep him as speaker (msn.com)
