What do you think of the decision by Only Fans to ban all explicit Porn starting October 1st?

Rumours that OnlyFans is going to block pornographic content from October appear to have been exaggerrated -yes, it wants a more diverse range of content producers and fans, but it will not block photos and videos -I assume the financial benefits are too great.

well, according to today's news, looks like they are about to ban something:

"Effective 1 October, 2021, OnlyFans will prohibit the posting of any content containing sexually-explicit conduct. In order to ensure the long-term sustainability of the platform, and to continue to host an inclusive community of creators and fans, we must evolve our content guidelines. Creators will continue to be allowed to post content containing nudity as long as it is consistent with our Acceptable Use Policy."

I may have misunderstood this, so apologies. Either way, it is just another result of pressure from people who enjoy sex stoppiing others from sharing it. It may be that there have been OnlyFans producers or content that included material that is illegal in the UK, eg, Bestiality, but that can be dealt with by moderators. As to the broader issue of trafficking, minors etc, banning Craigslist and Backpage did not stop that happening, merely pushed it underground where the real criminals probaby prefer to be anyway.

It seems that the banks and financial institutions can do more to limit porn than any legislation introduced by governments.

It also restricts the earning capacity of the performers and also the freedom to create their own content. Will this drive them to (or in some cases back to) the major porn producers who, with a potential surplus of talent, will be able to strike harder bargains for fees?

It will almost certainly restrict content available to the viewers. Some of the content produced by these performers is highly erotic but is unlikely to picked up as a genre or sub genre by the major companies. We have seen various threads here about why don't Grooby do this or that to which Steven has always replied with the reasons as to why it won't be happening

I'd argue it's more non-porn stars or girls/guys with non-adult jobs looking for an extra hustle who will lose out the most. For porn stars it is an extra income, but they can do studio work, or go back to having their own website content.
Or the other self-curated/hosting porn sites will just get more users and hits and income. I can see pOrnhub creator getting bigger as people migrate there.
