I felt it met my expectations. Just enough action as they developed the characters.

I was not impressed with the new look Klingon. There was absolutely no reason for the redesign. As for the the Klingon ships, hate them, they should have kept them canon. Klingon ships have looked the same from the Star Trek: Enterprise straight through to Star Trek: Voyager. I also think uniforms should have been kept canon. For that time every ship had it's on chest insignia design. The delta was not made the Starfleet symbol until after Kirk's 5 year mission. The uniforms should have looked like they did in the pilot of TOS. Also, I liked the fed ships but they should have been more like the TOS ships.

I think it is a good start.

Why did the Klingons talk so damn slowly?

And I see there's very little science to go with the fiction now. That early sequence where the ship went down into atmosphere to pick them up? Come on, that was clearly just done so it would look cool.

Hmmm....I'm flexible enough that I don't mind any of the changes......it will be interesting to see how the series pans out though...

Some flaws.
Michelle Yeoh's line delivery was awful.
Klingon make-up was fucking horrible and pointless.
Agreed with the science of a ship coming in to get them on a planet with atmosphere (could have sent an away ship to get them).
Not feeling any of the crew yet apart from the main character.

But ... it makes me want to stick with it.

After the recent Star Trek movies, the production values on this really stick out like a sore thumb.

It should be on the regular CBS broadcast you should not have to pay for CBS all access. It is one of the most popular franchises of all time it should be free.
