I am friends with 3 transwomen that have never had anything to do with escorting or the sex industry (i.e. they don't cam).

more importantly than my personal friendships, i meet transwomen and transmen quite often. i work for a non-profit that has 2 lgbtq programs and we run workshops and intergenerational programming where people of all ages get together as a forum to discuss lgbtq issues. at least 1/4 of the people who participate in my programs are trans where the remaining are cis-gender folks who identify as some sort of queer.

also, that said, we do have 2 transwomen who work for my company as well.

the sentiment that there are not many transpeople out there is not really accurate. it depends 1) where you live (most importantly), 2) where you look and 3) how hard you look. you all do realize that escorts have to eat, they have to go to stores, doctor's offices, out with friends...the point is, they have to leave their fuckpad for non-escort activities. transwomen are not dick-starved nymphos waiting to fuck for a buck.

I've met all my trans friends, acquaintances, girlfriends, hookups/FWBs, etc. outside of a sex work context. The closest I ever came to meeting a transwomen in an escorting environment was an ex-gf, who escorted and did some porn work, but the way I met her was completely unrelated to all of that.

In my experience, if you are confident enough to be open about your trans attraction - by which I mean not acting like you're ashamed to date or even be seen in public with a t-girl - it's actually pretty easy to meet transwomen.

I have, there’s a ts in my town who’s kind of well known as so far as I know she’s the only one in town. Not passable in terms of stature as she’s probably about 6’4 but really cute and great figure. Met her on a night out, added her on FB chatted for a bit then I got an invite over to her flat. Many years ago I worked with a chap called Mick. Shortly after I started at the company we both worked for he left on long term sick leave. Re appeared several months later as Karen. A bit of an odd situation knowing someone before and after transition but no one batted an eyelid other than a few of her clients who weren’t over impressed.
Nevertheless she got full support from the company which was pretty surprising considering it was 1993.
