First of all, there's no money in it, and most girls lose their family, friends and even jobs when they transition and plus it's (very) expensive, and can be very painful. And it's permanent. I was one of the lucky ones that didn't lose family, but I lost all of my friends. Quite a few girls are permanently disowned, become homeless or targets for abuse. There are only a small handful of girls in the industry who have anything near above average earnings, and those girls have been grinding non-stop for years. The trans women I know who are comfortable generally do things other than porn such as IT, programming, business owner, finance etc.

TLDR: trans women don't transition for porn, they do porn to pay for transition. There are no monetary or social benefits to being trans.
Thanks for providing some knowledgeable insight, and for doing it so gracefully. I'm sure stuff like this gets really old really fast.

-- Around the late 1990s early millenium I read of some young Thai boys who temporarily transitioned into 'ladyboys' complete with implants to make money from the bar scenes in Bangkok and Pattaya, and when they had made what they wanted had the implants removed and reverted to being males and started a family. It was not common but it did happen and for all I know still does.

Monetary and social benefits can benefit those people whose transition has enabled them to find peace in themselves, to give rigour and purpose to their identity and,as a result, has enabled them to function normally in society with a steady income from work, a career, friends, a social network and so on -and a few are now elected officials in local government in the USA.
If it benefits the individual, it can benefit society. Not everyone in our little world is transphobic.

There are drag queens who transitioned with breasts implants /hormones and surgery for pageants and other competitions.

Gay for pay is still a thing.

Here’s What This Straight Man Who Does ‘Gay For Pay’ Porn Wants You To Know
I’ve received a lot of hate because so many people have felt offended by what I do and that I do it as a straight guy

The latest episode of MTV’s “True Life” tackles a complex topic: straight dudes who have sex with men for money.

Titled, “True Life: I’m A Gay For Pay Pornstar,” the episode follows two straight men who struggle to balance getting paid to star in gay porn films with their lives as straight men with girlfriends.

i have never heard that term before BUT i definitely know one. One of my IT guys at work is a gay man that is into me quite a bit because, 1) I'm his type (a lumberjack bear type) and 2) he is incredibly turned on by the fact that I am turned on by transwomen!

Fair enough. Although this is referencing a situation where extreme poverty and the sex trade are the norm. Of lot of these individuals leave their family for big city "opportunities" made possible by foreign purchasing power (3000 baht is a lot to them but only $100 to you). An individual trying to help their family escape extreme poverty would qualify as a fringe case in my opinion and is not the norm.

Hmm. Just because transition is a solution to dysphoria doesn't mean that there aren't significant problems both financially and socially to being trans. It's a difficult life, and just because some manage to succeed doesn't mean that they succeeded because they were trans. They succeeded in spite of being trans.

I can't speak to how many people in the world are transphobic, but I do know that I lost all of my friends when I transitioned. A close friend was disowned by her family. Another friend of mine would have been homeless had I not let her move in with me temporally. Many girls I know in the industry were either homeless, disowned or abused at some point. Most girls I know are conspicuously over-represented in IT or programming. Many lose jobs, marriages and relationships when they transition, but carry on in spite of it. It's not atypical to spend 50k+ on transition-related costs. Whenever I go on a date, interview for a job, or do just about anything, I have to explain myself. People look at me weird half of the time. It's something that I'm always aware of and anxious about, and I'll never be free from it. Hardly a social or monetary benefit in my opinion.

your post really put it into perspective...guess its something I never really thought about to deeply before...the sacrifices of losing family and all your friends...Im not sure why people can be so cruel and judgmental when someone does something that makes themselves happy...

Yes, I know of one or so she’s told me. I mean there is more to it than her family needed money but she has said that was her deciding factor.
