In Europe Ford built two excellent generations of Escorts before they switched to front-wheel drive and started selling them in the US.

well, the OP never said if he wanted a something that was front wheel drive or he likes to drive from the rear. it depends. why would it be? it's just a car. It's not like we are talking about getting inside this escort for nefarious purposes.
we are just talking about a young, white thing in need of a rim job and maybe even a valve job too because as we know, escorts need to be Fixed Or Repaired Daily.
