TER is not alone in responding to this threat to your First Amendment Rights: Craigslist has pulled all of its Personal Ads, Reddit has closed a number of Subreddits and sites such as CityVibe and Men4RentNow have gone completely dark. Other websites have taken or are expected to take similar actions.

TER will suspend recurring billing for all U.S. monthly subscribers as well as provide a credit to all other U.S. subscribers equal to the period TER remains blocked to U.S. users.

I understand your point but the deliberate conflation of child trafficking and consensual sex work is anything but legitimate. Unfortunately the intellectually dishonest arguments have won out and those who oppose nonsense legislation like SESTA/FOSTA are painted as immoral degenerates and child trafficking enablers. It's the same tactic the pro-life religious nuts used for eons to demonize pro-choice "baby killers". Also I don't think transgender women were any more blatant in advertising than female escorts on CL/Backpage; The "BUT THE CHILDREN!!!" argument is what made this pass with virtually no political opposition. Children are political pawns for both the left and the right.

I totally agree with your points. Perhaps, I gave the "legitimate rationale" too much credence or should have preferenced it with "laughably plausible legitimate rationale". The intentional and misleading conflation of child sex exploitation and consensual adult sex is the most troubling aspect of SESTA / FOSTA because it is a slippery slope that could reach far further than our hypocritical legislators could have imagined. It will start to impact legitimate web based sites like dating and swinger sites.

I'm not sure that the female escorts on CL were as much to "blame" as the TG escorts, not because they were any less blatant but simply because hetero-normative prostitution has more or less always been around and to a large degree it's accepted, if not acceptable. The fact that TG prostitution is considered by many to fall outside of the perceived hetero-normative construct and the degree to which is was so over the top on CL, I think made it simply an easier target and a more convenient scapegoat. Another poster commented on the crack-hos and the robbery set ups which you also rarely heard about on the female escort side of things (not saying it didn't happen, it just didn't seem to make the press). So to some degree, I think that TG escort community was specifically targeted in this legislation.

I disagree you. I think your too narrow-minded on the way you view TG's and GG's. If you been following the media I have seen cases where even a father posted a CL post for his 4 year old daughter and pedos even a celebrity getting caught. Also, Eros got raided not because of TS's but because supposedly in a female escort forum stated that she got info from reliable source who worked in Eros because there was young under-age immigrant women working for agencies. There been cases that have nothing to do TS. Maybe get out a bit and look at other news outlets besides TS news lol However, maybe I'm wrong but would you mind sharing articles that back up your opinion ?
