whats best, selfies or professional pictures

My adverts have always had selfie pictures. I have always believed that unprofessional pictures that haven't been played with (no photoshop) gives a more honest and realistic impression.

A lot of my clients have told me about booking other girls and when arriving they look nothing like pictures and being very disapointed. Dont get me wrong, I dont always look fab, especially if you saw me 1st thing in the morning especially when I have crashed out with a full face of makeup but I believe in being as honest as possible about who I am and what I do and dont do during a booking.

However, with the majority of other girls having professional pictures, should I invest and get myself a photo shoot?

What do you guys prefer ?

I don't do the escort thing but I will say selfies today are just as honest as professional shoots. With all the filters, angle manipulation and high quality cameras on smart phones, you still won't know what you're getting. Even videos can be filtered to make one look better than they actually do. The only way to know how they really look is to FaceTime, unless they have filters on there too

A good professional photographer can make someone look better than they actually are but most selfies are pretty awful IMHO. I would suggest asking a friend, or give a discount to a client, to take some pictures of you with either a digital camera or a good cell phone camera. Pay attention to where the light is coming from and also what is in the background. If a picture doesn't look good, delete it and try again and again until you get some pics that you think flatter you.

My point is, do you prefer the total honesty of a poor selfie or the maybe dishonesty of great professional picture.

A poor selfie does not convey total honesty. It's pretty hard to take a half way decent selfie. In most cases you will look worse than you actually are.

As photographer myself, the answer is obvious here.
Here's what MANY "selfies" don't take into account (but we see them all the time):

- Dirty mirrors!
- Dirty bathrooms!
- Bathroom sinks unorganized mess!
- Dirty bedrooms!
- Clothes all of the place in a dirty bedroom

Utter garbage, it just take a little thought and effort. Decent selfies beat unrealistic over photoshopped pro pics hands down.

You can either look like an expensive and exotic Ferrari that only the elite drive or you can look like a Hyundai that everyone drives....

Any experienced photographer knows that it's all about lens and lighting.... not the camera.....
