Because you could've just stated that they were different things and left it at that. In this case, trotting out these pics was completely unnecessary, in that the issue being discussed did not require a trip into the darkest parts of American history for you to support your position.

I have yet to see the topic here that necessitates a single picture like the ones you posted be brought into the equation, but that's neither here nor there at this point.

Only way I could see a TS taking offense is if they break down the word shemale...she male. Its like just saying she's a man and if they consider themselves women then I can see why they dont like the term. But I think now the word is used generically like seanchai said. Just a porno term and is commonly used amongst everyone here in a non disrespectful way.

Shemale is not disrespectful that's what the girls are. A guy with a dick is a male. A girl with a pussy and two breasts is female. And a chick with a dick and two breasts is a shemale, and I like 'em!

I call a particular girl by her name.
If I'm talking about a group of transsexual girls then I use the terms "girls", "ladies" or "transsexual girls".
If I'm going out for a beer with some guys them I'm going for a beer with the guys not the "hemales".
As Seanchi stated in an early post - "Shemale" is a term predominantly used in the porn industry. None of the transsexual girls I know are active in the porn industry.
Don't see that post-op or pre-op make any difference. If a girl is transsexual then that's what she is.
