Re: I've seen the future ...
AFAIK, the first gen of VR stuff for the PS4 involves a sea of wires which really nobody wants or needs in this day and age. I'm sure wireless versions will appear in due course, which I'll wait for. Certainly just popping the phone into the headset is easy and doesn't need any wires or cables ...

Re: I've seen the future ...
as known. Porn pushes a lot of video tech. VR isnt going away. Defintely not a fad. The video game aspect has some quirks to work out. But business applications, videos, and porn VR are here to stay. Which means as it becomes cheaper and better, it will be a normal thing.

Re: I've seen the future ...
I remember when the Venus of Willendorf was the hot new 3D porn. Everybody wanked to that for about five thousand years, and then got bored. Eventually we'll all get tired of this computer stuff and go back to charcoal scratchings on the cave wall.

Re: I've seen the future ...
Urggg... just a buttinsky comment from a tech nerd... It is 360 degree video... not VR. True porn VR is a long, long way away... so rest easy. 360 degree video is definitely better than POV stuff though... especially once resolutions really catch up. It is really amazing what kind of immersion a true and well done 360 degree video can give you. I'll be starting shooting 360 degree video for Samsung Gear VR very soon... while not quite on par with a $10K rig, it's still pretty good when done correctly.
It is absolutely true that gaming VR has not performed as well as once thought... it's going to suffer the same setbacks as 3D did until the technology gets lighter and easier to use. VERY fun though when you try it... but it QUICKLY looses the novelty. I haven't even touched my PS4 VR since I played through Robinson, Batman VR, Battle Zone, and a few others.

Which is exactly my point. Gaming VR is a novelty, and a pricey one at that. Not to mention VR makes MANY people violently ill.
Core gameplay, with engrossing storylines and charismatic characters, simply can't be replicated in a virtual form, at least not within the average gamer's price point.
