have you ever met a trans person in a non-escort environment?

i know many are still afraid, rightly, not to be out. but then i don't think ever have, even though i may have unknowingly.

I never have been able to meet someone who wasnt an escort, wish I was able to though.

Unfortunately, there just aren't that many trans women out there. But I have been fortunate enough to meet some. One of them was even a client of mine who eventually turned into my girlfriend.

It could just be me. But it seems like in the last 10 years, the trans community has been getting a lot bigger. There are even trans children now. Heck, if there were trans children when I was in school, I might have dated one of them. But there weren't any back then. At least not in the schools I went to. But there seem to be some now. Not a lot, but some. Who knows what will happen in the next hundred years or so. Too bad all of us will be gone by that time.

I saw Kimberly Devine in a shoe store in Van Nuys, CA in 1987.
I was star struck and I was actually shaking. She was quite beautiful. I just said, "Hi" and she smiled back.

Plenty of times. Although I dress myself, I went out for the day with a trans friend several years ago, largely to see how she was treated. (I was deciding how "out" to be myself). We went to a restaurant, a coffee house and some shops.

The result? No funny remarks. No double-takes. Was she unclockable? No. Did people care? No one seemed to.

When I eventually went out as Gilly for the first time, I too got no comments or funny looks. Do I think I was clocked? Almost certainly. Did it matter. No ...

In that respect, I think society, certainly here in the UK, has come quite a long way.

I am friends with 3 transwomen that have never had anything to do with escorting or the sex industry (i.e. they don't cam).

more importantly than my personal friendships, i meet transwomen and transmen quite often. i work for a non-profit that has 2 lgbtq programs and we run workshops and intergenerational programming where people of all ages get together as a forum to discuss lgbtq issues. at least 1/4 of the people who participate in my programs are trans where the remaining are cis-gender folks who identify as some sort of queer.

also, that said, we do have 2 transwomen who work for my company as well.

the sentiment that there are not many transpeople out there is not really accurate. it depends 1) where you live (most importantly), 2) where you look and 3) how hard you look. you all do realize that escorts have to eat, they have to go to stores, doctor's offices, out with friends...the point is, they have to leave their fuckpad for non-escort activities. transwomen are not dick-starved nymphos waiting to fuck for a buck.

I've met all my trans friends, acquaintances, girlfriends, hookups/FWBs, etc. outside of a sex work context. The closest I ever came to meeting a transwomen in an escorting environment was an ex-gf, who escorted and did some porn work, but the way I met her was completely unrelated to all of that.

In my experience, if you are confident enough to be open about your trans attraction - by which I mean not acting like you're ashamed to date or even be seen in public with a t-girl - it's actually pretty easy to meet transwomen.

I have, there’s a ts in my town who’s kind of well known as so far as I know she’s the only one in town. Not passable in terms of stature as she’s probably about 6’4 but really cute and great figure. Met her on a night out, added her on FB chatted for a bit then I got an invite over to her flat. Ended up sleeping with her so I’m batting 1.000 in the non escort department which I’m pretty proud of! Lol.

Many years ago I worked with a chap called Mick. Shortly after I started at the company we both worked for he left on long term sick leave. Re appeared several months later as Karen. A bit of an odd situation knowing someone before and after transition but no one batted an eyelid other than a few of her clients who weren’t over impressed.
Nevertheless she got full support from the company which was pretty surprising considering it was 1993.

There are so many here in L.A. I have met trans women who work at Home Depot, IKEA, Hair Salons, El Pollo Loco, and also at the gym, in Court, at the park, at the beach. The only other place I saw more TSwomen in the street was Thailand.

There are two really cute, passable trans girls who work at restaurants near me in Seattle. I try to be cool about it when I go in, but it gets me hot and bothered knowing the sexiness that is flitting around me. One of them especially has a sexy, sexy voice and always smells like a dream. Unfortunately she isn't very friendly.

I met a couple girls at Black's beach in San Diego, aka clothing optional beach. They were nude and I was in the buff too, so instant hardon, but we chatted for a few minutes anyways. I keep visiting Black's in hopes they'll be back ;).
