Klinefelter's syndrome
I don't know what this is, but i noticed Kimber James has this condition.
From my observations I believe it if a transwomen is also born with this infliction it will make them much more passable than a broad shouldered transwoman who will most likely never pass due to masculine bone structure.
Just my thoughts.
What does everybody else think?

Re: Klinefelter's syndrome
Probably should've posted something about Klinefelter syndrome since many won't look it up on wikipedia.

Re: Klinefelter's syndrome
So Freddy... Still looking for a syndrome to explain the undersized dick & other feminine traits you can't seem to convince the boards you don't have? I'm thinking Kimber James can speak for herself. Even if she has a chromosomal difference, I've never seen evidence that she's insecure about it. ...Or anything else for that matter.
-
Re: Klinefelter's syndrome
So, Freddie- is this something you read, or did you "notice" Kimber's genetic structure looking at her pics?

How do you know someone is XXY w/o knowing anything about the condition?
Depending on how serious it is, a person could be a slightly retarded, balding middle aged man with B cups.
Not none of you guys though, most of you are cool.
Stay thirsty~

umm...karyotype analysis!!!
until i see someone's karyotype analysis, i doubt they have Klinefelter syndrome, including kimber's diagnosis. its like chrissy snow saying she is intersexed. i think it is more marketing than reality.
-
Re: Klinefelter's syndrome
Considering that severity can vary, it would definitely be interesting if someone did a study on a large group of trans women to see if there is an elevated percentage of XXY compared to the standard male population.
I really doubt I have it though. I have a very feminine frame despite starting hormones at 23 and am slightly above average height, but I've got an IQ in the 150 range and a pretty big peen. Then again, I definitely wouldn't mind being tested to find out. :)
-
Re: Klinefelter's syndrome
Karyotyping is used to look at all of the chromosomes in order to assess for aneuploidy (abnormal chromosomes).Abnormalities may consist of a chromosomal deletion, insertion or translocation. It usually takes a week or two for results to be produced when testing a person versus testing a fetus that takes 36-72 hours.
As in Kimber's supposed diagnosis of Klinefelter's, it's merely an insertion. Hope this helps.

Re: Klinefelter's syndrome
I have what would be considered a Klinefelter body type, but I don't have the syndrome. My IQ is in the mid 130's-low 140's. I've tested negative. Some people are just born with feminine features. It doesn't have to be pathologized.

Re: Klinefelter's syndrome
It's a very complicated issue. I don't know her, so I can't speak to her specifics, but intersex conditions while not common aren't entirely uncommon either among trans people. Intersex conditions are actually comprised of 50 or so separate biological variations.
Intersex conditions involving malformed genitalia are typically diagnosed at birth. Other, less obvious intersex conditions aren't typically diagnosed unless it intersects with another medical issue. Because an intersex condition can alter how HRT is administered, it's often explored with a Transsexual when there is cause to be concerned.
Adding complication to this is the normal variation in feminization/ masculinization of human beings AND that a number of transfolks have claimed "intersex" beyond it's medical application in an effort to gain social acceptance.
Unless you are privy to someone's medical records, its tough to say who is or isn't. Ultimately it doesn't matter. Society treats anyone transitioning from one gender to another as transsexual, regardless of whether it's a proper medical diagnosis.

Thanks for shedding some light on the matter, Wendy.
Can't wait for Freddie's response.......

Lower IQ scores are often seen with Klinefelter's syndrome; that's why folks are raising it.

I'm pretty sure I don't have it, but I've always wondered if something was up with my body. I'm a lean guy but my butt is huge, I wear a book bag everyday just to hide it :/

i really wish instead of saying you had a high iq, you did something that made people "see" you had a high iq.

You DO know Wiki pages can be altered by pretty much anyone, right? I even have 2 that I add to once a week for Games that I play...so people can look up items they're searching for. Believe me....there are also errors I have to clean up after people post inaccurate and intentionally misleading bullshit.

Re: Klinefelter's syndrome
as an undergrad, i took a class on channelopathy . the prof was one of the foremost experts on sk2 channels and authored the wikipedia page on them at the time. I edited the page just for fun altering key info to screw with him.
later in the term. someone plagiarized that wikipedia page and copy/pasted from wikipedia which included my purposefully incorrect info on recruitment to the membrane into a paper and of course failed the class.
error 1...writing a paper on a protein that the professor is an expert on.
error 2...using wikipedia as a primary source
