I have very distant Swedish links. My parents both came from Fife in the east of Scotland although I was born and brought up in the west, in Glasgow.
My dad and I traced the family line in Fife all the way back to 1716, only to discover that the family name at that point was Swedish - traced that back to Goteborg in 1628, but that was where the records dried up.
