Fun Facts #3:Joe Biden and Kievan Rus

This is going to be a bit complicated, so bear with me as we expore the possibility that Joe Biden is descended from the Polish nobility who once ruled Kievan Rus, currently known as 'Ukraine', which suggests, shall we say, a monumental bias against Russia -?

Can we say, 'It's Family!'? Er, well....

Lost in the mists of time, but not in Kiev, or Kyiv, there was a time when the land was pulled this way and that by Sweden, by Poland, and after it was founded, by Russia. Before the Russians got involved, and yes to digress briefly there is a theory Ukraine could claim Russia is part of Ukraine -but let's not go there right now!- we light upon the first (Christian) King of Poland, Mieszko1 (ruled 960-922) whose progeny at various times ruled in Kievan Rus or were thrown out of it. Life was like that in them days.

The link is between the marriage when Margaret (Małgorzata) of Cieszyn, related to Mieszko 1, became a lady-in-waiting to the Plantagenet Queen of England, 'Anne of Bohemia', born in Prague in 1366, wife of King Richard II. Margaret was related to Przemysław I Noszak of the Piast Dynasty, but married a man called Sir Simon Fellbrigg, whose daughter set in train the genealogy that ends up in the USA's largest PO Box, also known as Delaware.
