Organizing ad hoc parties in private karaoke rooms (NYC)
I met up with another HA member (who won't be named unless he wants to be) who agreed the current parties in NYC are awful.
As an artsy Asian Brooklynite who used to live in Flushing, I ponder the idea of a more selective, artsier party held in a private Asian karaoke room in which there are other things to do besides drinking. You would get girls with passable voices and maybe some cisgirls (girls who aren't trans). The idea is for a more fun, more intimate and less shallow experience. Having it in a private room also means any lapdances could turn into more without security guards telling you that what you're doing is off-limits. It would just be really close quarters, but that's not a bad thing. ;)
The guest list and event dates would be managed (hopefully by more than just one person) to ensure high quality guests, w respect to appearance (for girls), personality, education and attractiveness, and general awesomeness, and rates for admission set just to cover room costs. ($10/per person / hour + room tip)
Somewhat wild idea from this entrepreneurial gal who aced ECON 201 and 202 and has helped organize a few college events herself ;) the idea is to maximize fun, not revenue.

I'm a DJ/KJ. I wish I was on your coast!
Best of luck!

Sounds like some good fun, especially the really close quarters! :) Where can I sign up???

Sounds a lot like those swinger parties where single guys can never get in.
Screening people based on their 'awesomeness' reeks of elitism...

Sooooooo.....unlike the rest of us, you're not awesome?
Re: Organizing ad hoc parties in private karaoke rooms (NYC)
Why is it elitist? The Brooklyn aesthetic is hot and underrated ;)

hit the thumbs up by accident ...wasn't looking to rate it...just fat fingers. I always thought it was obvious why they don't want single swingers. It isn't elitism, it's making it workable.
I think if she's trying to create a certain vibe she has pictured in her mind and like minded people want the same thing then there is going to have to be a certain amount of exclusiveness.
It can't hurt to try.

Personally i think we should all meet in a metal club, but I can see how that wouldn't really work...
