Actually, today "Black Friday" is the second day of York's Christmas market, St Nicholas Fayre, when the ancient streets in the centre are taken over by market stalls, musicians, street theatre and fun. Enjoyed it so much last night that I'm going again today.

My point is that the Black Friday phenomenon in the UK is so far largely restricted to US-based or owned retailers and not a general thing.
Plus it's not unusual for Black Friday in the US to involve the use or the threat of use of firearms, thankfully something that's the remotest of possibilities in the UK.
And the view from up here is just wonderful, thanks.
