Re: Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
The XXX domains JUST became available. So of all the names you could have chosen, you chose Shemales.xxx. So again, you insist on perpetuating that word. Ashley got it right. You're a scumbag.

Re: Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Somebody else would've bought that same name, and would of been a potential lost for Grooby. It's just business(smart business)Bella.I'm glad Grooby didn't fall behind the times on this one.
I hope that it's a mega site(all of Grooby's sites in one).Probably would loosen the wallet for that, lol.

They could have bought the name and sat on it. They have the money. This was cheaper and easier, so who cares about being groundbreaking and changing the paradigm?
Could they fall behind the times? No. Are they maintaining the status quo? Absolutely. I might be a transsexual woman, and even a porn star, but I'm not a 'shemale.' I don't care what some website or DVD cover says, but those on the outside do.
This was a total missed opportunity. I'm not going to argue about it. Let the exploiter exploit. I said what I have to say.

Why aren't you up in arms over that?

Brilliant logic there, Bella. Spend that amount on a domain to sit on it and waste it.
Go cry a river to all those other producers using the shemale word. In the context of porn, I have no problem with it - and I guarantee you would have jumped at the chance to model for this site, if my name wasn't on it.

Because Isa didn't popularize the term and then neglect to take an opportunity to try and change it.
But on the other side of this, why are you asking me this in defense of Steven at the expense of Isa? Still bitter, much?

You're right. I want nothing to do with you. As far as 'shemale' sites, again, I didn't name them, did I? I just want to make porn in a sex-positive atmosphere. You don't provide that. Your insistence on continuing to market that term alone indicates as much, and I think most of are familiar with my other criticisms.

Re: Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
You also could have bought shemale.xxx and forwarded it to transsexuals.xxx or transporn.xxx or tsporn.xxx or whatever. This isn't rocket science. WTF? :?

Er, that would be rocket science ... you are clueless about this business. Until you are part of it, STFU.

Yeah. I haven't been in political campaigning since age 12. I haven't been in the adult business for 15 years. I haven't been in the web business for 4. I haven't been making porn for 2 and a half. I'm a non-entity. That's why I get under your skin so much. :?
Reality check!

Re: Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
No Bella - Shemale has been a term forever and a day - in the 80s etc
I don't know if Steven was making porn in the 80's?
The point is the average consumer searches SHEMALE
Shemale is a porn TERM..who cares?
If you are a porn model it comes with the gig..
-
Re: Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
In my opinion as a consumer the word shemale is more exotic and taboo.

Sure, but would you stop watching if it was labeled TS-Porn instead? :?
I suspect most fans would not since some sites are already doing it. You don't really need that extra layer of objectification to make money in this business.

I don't care what its called. I'd watch regardless. Everyone has their own idea behind lablels anyway. From a business perspective why not choose shemale? Those who are worried about objectification are a minority. Someone else would have taken advantage. Business is business and shemale would appear to attract more noobs than touchy feely stuff.
Not saying its right or wrong either. It is what it is.

I'm curious, what did they nick you for that domain? I heard that it was going to be upwards of 40K for custom domains (like if coke wanted something like coca.cola). I'm guessing that a bunch of people will be using the .xxx domain though.

Re: Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
shemale is a recognizable term used in the porn industry. while yes it's not the most "politically correct" term to use, business is still about knowing your target audience and knowing the best way to market it to them.
I would assume shemale is probably the most searched term, since it seems to be the most commonly used one. so why would Grooby choose to go against the grain with that? if you want to make money, know what works!
and there are many girls who identify with the term shemale anyways, so while it's offensive to some, it's not to others.
as someone already touched base on, shemale is taboo. the whole reason this industry has been successful is because it's taboo. if you can't come to terms with the way it operates, the don't be a part of it. simple as that

Re: Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
and congrats to seanchai on the launch of the new site! hopefully we can get some Canadian girls on there :)
-
Re: Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I guess I perpetuate the stereotype since my site's tag line is "Tattooed Tranny of Your Shemale Dreams"
For me, I love the term Shemale. I am not 100% of either gender so it is nice neutral term. I don't see it being any worse than Ladyboy. Just my two cents on that.
And a "Hell Yea!!!!!" for the launch of shemale.xxx which features me on the initial updates. I hope it is a huge success :rock2

Re: Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I hope they will put BBW girls on there too!!! LOL! Not many outlets for us girls! It looks great Steven! Keep it up!
Shemale term is cool, lets get over it NOW!

Re: Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I wasn't going to comment, but, I hope for the girls involved that this does well.
(I think I just bit my tongue. . .damn. . .)
Six figures for a new domain name? ? ?

Actually you are the first - you are scheduled there for next week. Kevin didn't know he was shooting you for this site but he was :-)

Re: Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
He'll probably get crabby if you ask him too many questions.
But, really, securing that domain name probably wasn't cheap, and what benefit is there to having it? I'm just asking. .XXX just designates a site as being more easily targeted by over protective search filtering systems.
I'm not in the web porn biz, but I do stop by, have a beer, and ask questions on occasion.
:)

Do you mean do we bill through a merchant account? We have been for much of this year on most of the sites.

Re: Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
One last thought on this whole thing, and I mean no offense to anyone.
If the .XXX level domain sites do get filtered widely, will that soon require a premium cost paid to an individuals ISP so that they can access that domain level, in addition to membership costs to the sites the individual wants to visit?
?

Well, kick him in the balls. If I say anything I'll probably get banned again.
This mic is off, right?
-
Re: Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I still say they should have used .cum instead of .xxx for porn domains, but whatever.
As to Grooby's new site, well... my reaction is... same product, re-branding... meh.
If this is a real moneymaker then perhaps I should go out and get newshemale.xxx, and then shoot the same models at the same rates. That should rake in twice the dough.
