Eh well as much as I dislike Floyd, I had an equal distaste for Hatton going into the fight. Like mentioned earlier, it was almost a laugh to hear of the fight cause I never saw anything special in Hatton(skill wise) and no matter what some may say, he was given that Collazo fight so what could we really expect him to do with Floyd?
That being said, kill the "Floyd is an all time great" jazz. Definitely talented but definitely not as good as some regard him to be...his opposition makes him appear to be greater than he actually is.
He's also a jackass...new age Ali? At Ali's worst, he still retained some semblance of charm. Floyd on the other hand is just boastfully obnoxious.
Your right Timxxx, that is why Joe Frazier had so much support among whites, when they fought. Bryant Gumbel of all people spoke about how Joe Frazier was viciously maligned and mocked by Ali before the fight, but more tragically abandoned by most of his white fanbase after the fight. They rooted for Joe Frazier, only because they wanted to see this arrogant, shyt talking negro get put in his place and if a white man couldn't do it, than anybody would suffice. Another brother that was deluded into thinking he was loved by his white fans was Floyd Patterson. He was punished by Ali, for mockingly calling him "Cassius Clay" after his conversion to Islam during pre-fight press conferences. These types of remarks, along with the fact Floyd Patterson took absolutely no stance on the Civil Rights Movement and the systemic racism faced by people who looked him, made him the darling of white America leading up to that fight. Thankfully, Ali beat this Uncle Tom like he stole something, while yelling "Say my name". Nobody likes a trash talker, but a black man who trash talks, doesn't "shuck and jive" and can back it up, really gets under the skin of many whites, who feel he/she should be "lucky" they have become rich and famous, therefore humble and contrite. Whether it be Barry Bonds, Michael Vick or Stephon Marbury, there seems to be a general feeling of delight about their fall from grace, in the mainstream press. I'm not saying white athletes don't face the vultures when they fuck up, but it's seems to be intensified when it's a black man, especially a hip-hop looking (Vick) or non-apologetic one (Bonds).Quote:

That's why I feel all these "race doesn't matter" or "I don't see color" people are full of shyt and if you let them talk long enough you'll start to smell it.
In any event, Hatten is a blue-collar fighter who has done everything in his power to maximize his boxing ability and I really respect that type of work ethic. Unfortunately, he has a modicum of the natural boxing talent Floyd Mayweather Jr. has, as well as the fact Floyd is known for being a really hard trainer also. So with that said, unless Hatten hit Floyd with a lucky punch and really hurt him bad (which happens all the time in boxing) he was bound to lose. Boxing is in Floyd's blood and Hatten just could stand the reign.
She didn't say she was caucasian she said that's what eros selected for her, and it's neither yours nor my business. I defended her because she admitted even before that thread that she was proud of her white and her black side. Then people try and make a big deal out of it like it's their business.Quote:

I don't know what point you're trying to prove or more importantly, how much you've been drinking, but I haven't a racist bone in my body.
If you want to carry on making completely irrelevant off topic accusations, then work away, but don't expect me to listen to your bullshit.

Let me ask the question one more time. Since, you stated race/ethnicity doesn't matter in Mimi's thread (I believe you said something along the line of "Who gives a fuck what she chooses, it does make a difference anyway". Why did you truly want Ricky Hatten to win? Why was that the guy you pulled for truthfully? Are you actually saying it has nothing to do with both of you being Irish and more with your dislike of Floyd Mayweather? At every Hatten fight, the Irish flags are waving and you're no different. My point to you is, if race is truly insignificant in your heart of hearts, why did you root for Hatten so hard? If you want play mind games with yourself and the rest of this thread and say it had nothing to do with him being Irish, than go ahead. If Floyd Mathweather was a humble, polite, non-braggart type who smiled and grinned all the time, you still would have pulled for Hatten and there's nothing wrong with that. If I was Irish, I would have rooted for him too. But don't hand me some colorblind B.S, then root for an fighter primarily based on shared heritage.
I don't want to hear any responses about Great Britain, the United States or Gilligan's Island for that matter and who they rooted for and why. Keep it real, WHAT WAS YOUR PRIMARY MOTIVATION FOR SUPPORTING RICKY HATTEN?
Firstly Ricky Hatt'ON' is English and those "flags" you refer to are English!Quote:

As for why he supports him I can not answer but it's most likely because he has built a huge following in BRITAIN for being a down to earth, just one of the lads, peoples fighter.
People love Ricky over here, yes.......For one he is English or in NR's case British but a large reason is his humble persona, and general likeability!
I don't see what the fuck this has to do with "Mimi" at all :?
Dont you guys get that mayweather just puts on the arrogant act for promotion purposes, you think if floyd acting like a normal boring guy like hatton does this fight would have had this much hype?
Come on it really wasn't that close unless you mean all the holding that Ricky was doing?Quote:
