Beethoven -Piano Sonatas (Complete)
I try to buy most of my DVDs and CDs from two local shops, one of which had a complete set of Beethoven piano sonatas at the handsome price of £15, an irresistible bargain. The pianist, the Austrian Rudolf Buchbinder offers some hectic speeds at times, some wrong notes, but also some deeply impressive playing, the famous 'Moonlight Sonata' being a bit on the dark side. I am currently about to start disc 7 of the 9 in the box. They compare favourably with the Barenboim set on HMV I have had for years and never thought could be equaled. But that is the depth and range of possibilities with Beethoven.

Hey Stavros, I've got 750GB of music on my computer, all for the low low price of zero dollars. (I hardly ever listen to it.)
All these songs I have posted lately I posted before,
back when this thread was popular.
All my favorite music was from my teens, in the 60s Now I'm in my sixties.
Back then you bought an LP or a single and played it nonstop.
My Dad was into stereos, and those old tube amps really produced a hot sound the guitarists of that period profited from.
My Mom and Pop lived in NYC after WWII, you could see Frank Sinatra and his band at the roller rink, or get a ringside table to hear Billie Holliday sing at an intimate club.
I have no idea of what music is popular today. Everything on the radio sounds like crap to me.

I like things, so I buy DVDs and CDs and books. I am not that interested in streaming and had a bad experience with the iPod of a few years ago nobody seems to use anymore -it is made for pop music not classical so for example I loaded a 6-CD set of lieder by Strauss and discovered later it had re-ordered all of them in alphabetical order instead of how they appear on the cd. Complete waste of time, as they did the same thing with Symphonies, re-ordering the movements, and with operas where Act 1 of Tristan was followed by Act 3. So I still use a personal cd player though they don't make quality machines any more.
Jeez, Stavros, isn't it like 6AM there???
It's groove time here on the East Coast:
And it's like 1982.
