It was right for him to defend himself. One jumped the counter while the other, who was less athletic, went around the counter to physically beat him further after slapping him. He struck back before they had a chance to react. I don't think he had a lot of time to chose the least effective weapon to defend himself.
I also think ABC OVERLY dramatized the incident. "Most Savage" is eight people being killed at once at the job, not someone defending himself from two attackers!
There were several swings at the end that seemed unnecessary.
I tried the link and was rewarded with the weather forecast for NYC, so I missed the beatdown, but from other posts I deduced the person who did the beating was attacked initially and acted in self-defense. That would most likely account for extra swings, derek, as most people acting in self-defense are also scared and running on adrenaline. :geek:
Oh c'mon you are a man go ahead punch her once and knock her out, that is self defense. Why the need to beat a woman half your size with a pipe and hit her several times, there was no need for a broken arm, or a fractured skull...
I was just sayin'. I guess I should walk a mile in his his McShoes.
wow thats on west 4th street. is this recent? i think he over-reacted honestly... she smacked him... hes a man all that extra wasnt needed.
If these were two guys slapping a girl and she (over)reacted the same would you think it was so out of line?
I don't see the issue and the point people are trying to make with "he's a guy" - we're meant to live in an equal society. He was attacked at his place of work, they went over the counter to continue to attack him and at least one of them was bigger than he. Did he know they didn't have weapons?
Self-defense basic rules : put them down and make sure they're not going to get back up - or get away from the situation.
This kid's past of being in prison is going to go against him - but he is someone who was actually WORKING in McDonalds so he's no career criminal if he's going to actually do that job.
The situation was already out of control before anything physical happened. I guess he didn't pay attention in orientation. You don't argue with the customers in any retail job.
He showed them what equality is all about. No crime in my opinion.
