Yesterday I posted an article on my blog, "Five Things to Know Before Dating a Transsexual." (http://www.wendysummers.net/transsexual-issues/20-five-things-to-know-before-dating-a-transsexual) With my work on webcam and phone, I tend to speak with a lot of guys who want to date transsexuals but haven't had the opportunity to do so yet. As a community, we discuss transsexual issues from the perspective of the transsexual, but rarely from the perspective of those of you who dig us. There's a broad range of experience amongst folks here on Hung Angels, so I'm curious what your thoughts are:

What advice would you give to someone who is dating a transsexual for the first time?

I never have dated a ts woman, i'd love to, but then seems pretty obvious, just treat her like a genetic woman.

Except I've seen guys believe they are implementing that when in reality they say some dumb shit... such as verbalizing what you are saying.

Hi Wendy, Been a fan for a long time. When you say dating do you mean dating as in dinner and a movie or do you mean in terms of an escort where sex is the dinner?

well i just think it is true. a woman is a woman whether gg or ts. and this shouldn't be a barrier in dating or relating to the otehr person. all relationships are based on respecting the other party for everything they are.

I was speaking more in the romantic terms.

I think in general just treat with love and respect. I have gone to dinner with, hung out with and gone to the movies. I think most appreciate being treated like a lady but some not so much. Some are gorgeous and look like ladies on the outside but act like men.

No need for the self-deprecation. You provided very useful information for everyone on this forum. Take the credit.

I've clearly not been around enough lately when folks don't realize:

Take nothing I say seriously. It's how I keep my ego in check ;)

Ive dated a few men since i began transitioning and most were cool but seemed uncomfortable going out in public with me. I consider myself passable because guys hit on me all the time whem im out, but maybe im mistaken. Well my advice is if your going to ask a TS women out, dont be embarrassed when you do finally go out.

Wendy has supplied some valuable info...I'll add one thing about dating and I think this applies to any situation:

When there's a person whom you'd like to pursue and know better, don't have sex on first meet.

Revised!

1) Get used to her crazy ass friends! Yes, even the HOT MESS, early transitioning girl, that she used to live with....

2) Understand going in, that depending on her comfort and confidence levels, certain things you would never have thought about before, now take greater import.
Ie, vacation destinations, restaurants, RNC conventions (jkjk), clubs, bars, etc.

Some girls are super fishy, some not so much.
Her comfort level might not be up to "lounging at a beach resort, right in front of the swim up bar, while she is not using the "tube-sock-tuck" method.

3) Introduce her to your friends and family. Be proud to be with her.

4) Plan to purchase lots of lube!

5) Learn what the snap of hair extensions being removed, sounds like.

6) Understand that you WILL soon be watching Rupaul's D/R, and you will learn what a "Lace Front Wig" is.

7) Get ready for over the top Princess-eee stuff, Unicorn references, and the use/ abuse of pink as a decorative color.

8) Figure out which of her friends is out to screw:
A. You
or
B. Her.
Just to fuck up her relationship.

9) Learn how to deal with her (probably) having WAY more sexual partners in the past, than you thought was even remotely possible.

10) Never forget that most girls come with a small, uuber-cute, toy, puppy.

11) Learn what high end bags, shoes, and sun glasses are currently the "Must-HAVE" items. You WILL be buying ~something~ Might as well know what to get ....

& MOST IMPORTANTLY

12) Treat her like you would any other girl you date, JUST BETTER.

When you win their heart, they will treat you like a king. (at least my girl does)

Okay, I was going to write some funny shit, but it came out all serious.... kinda...

LOL

I've never known a transsexual with a cat.

...perhaps it's because cats outlive a short attention span...:hide-1:

Revised!

Revised again, based on my (trans) sister.

1) Get used to her crazy ass friends! Yes, even the HOT MESS, early transitioning girl, that she used to live with....

The crazy ass friends would include a couple of guys who blow things up for entertainment, and the guy who has an early model Cray super-computer in his basement. There's more, but you get the idea. There was also the early transitioning woman who had landlord problems, so my sister rented space in her house to her. She broke the dishwasher and moved out. You won't be seeing much of her.

2) Understand going in, that depending on her comfort and confidence levels, certain things you would never have thought about before, now take greater import.

Like the fact that she once lost her temper and threw a cast iron engine block through a window.

Her comfort level might not be up to "lounging at a beach resort, right in front of the swim up bar, while she is not using the "tube-sock-tuck" method.

She just spent a week at the beach. Seriously, who's going to fuck with her?

3) Introduce her to your friends and family. Be proud to be with her.

Or else.

4) Plan to purchase lots of lube!

She's my sister. Please don't tell me how much lube you plan to purchase.

5) Learn what the snap of hair extensions being removed, sounds like.

You will never, ever learn what the snap of hair extensions being removed sounds like.

6) Understand that you WILL soon be watching Rupaul's D/R, and you will learn what a "Lace Front Wig" is.

You will soon be learning what black box radiation is, why it's fundamental to statistical thermodynamics, and how it is used in the design of automotive engines.

7) Get ready for over the top Princess-eee stuff, Unicorn references, and the use/ abuse of pink as a decorative color.

Get ready for lots of kayaking and paddle boarding.

8) Figure out which of her friends is out to screw:
A. You
or
B. Her.
Just to fuck up her relationship.

I don't think any of her friends ever did this. If they did, they didn't survive long enough for me to find out about them.

9) Learn how to deal with her (probably) having WAY more sexual partners in the past, than you thought was even remotely possible.

Once again, she's my sister. Don't tell me about this.

10) Never forget that most girls come with a small, uuber-cute, toy, puppy.

She comes with three rolling toolboxes stuffed full of tools (one of the toolboxes is taller than I am), a milling machine, and a MIG welder, all of which she lets me use. BEST SISTER EVER!

11) Learn what high end bags, shoes, and sun glasses are currently the "Must-HAVE" items. You WILL be buying ~something~ Might as well know what to get ....

A dishwasher. She needs a new dishwasher.

12) Treat her like you would any other girl you date, JUST BETTER.

Because she's my sister. And also the bit about throwing objects that are as heavy as you are through the window.

I have another relative who's starting her transition, and she's completely different from both my sister and the woman disnug is dating. See the OP's earlier comment about everybody being different.

Pittsburgh -- that's too far. I'm too lazy to drive there.

Wendy don't threaten a NY guy with a good time lol...and get to Queens soon...please!!!

That wasn't meant to be a good time. Clearly I need to work on my threats a bit more. Any volunteers....

Wendy,

I've always considered you the thinking man's lady.

If by thinking you mean the little brain down below, I'll accept that.

“If by thinking you mean the little brain down below, I'll accept that.”

Wendy,

No doubt my “little brain” goes into overdrive whenever I see a picture of you (which is frequent because your pictures are my wallpaper on both my notebook and Ipad).

However, I think what you have between your ears is your sexiest organ.

But, I must admit that as great as your brain is, I would be licking and sucking another part of your body if I had the chance.

I've known many trannys and one thing i found is that they usually don't have relationships with guys who bottom.

They fall in love with the thug types. And they treat guys who bottom as tricks...

This is something a zombie would say, just to convince someone they aren't a zombie.

I'm not saying this, mind you. I just know this is something some people say.
