I disagree with #4. It assuredly is an obstacle to professional success, especially in the US (I guess this article is British?) I know so many unemployed/underemployed trans women. It's one of the main reasons I don't transition myself.

In Siam Paragon and Central World, more than 1/2 of the sales staff for cosmetics and lingerie are TG women.
Does this qualify as professional?

IMHO,
"No"......But here's another successful transgender professional.

The ugly/taboo question is, were some of the individuals prior to their transition in any kind of a position/status in life to entertain a professional career?

At my university a professor would not sign a letter of recommendation for a 4.00 grade transgender studentsstudent to go to nursing school.

Even caitlyn Jenner was trying to help another transgender nursing student who was being clearly barred from academic goals because they had transitioned from MTF.
