In the past we used to have fairly active and robust discussions, but as I'm typing this all but 2 threads on the front page are pic threads. I feel like a total ass just posting pics as I'd rather be contributing.

We used to talk about things like sexual (& porn) preferences, pop culture discussions, etc.

So what did I miss? What happened that turned this into a pic index?

I would say that as crazy as it sounds, but some HA members don't really support diversity. You have to have at least two sides for a healthy discussion. People that have ventured here because they appreciate femminity in all forms are repeatedly told they are gay.

Of course I can appreciate the other side too.

JMO, but personally, I have pulled out of some of the more engaging discussions because I don't see that it's actually a true discussion. I know what I am. So if someone can't accept me for what I am, I don't see the need to engage them in discussion- generalized. But I am sure others feel the same way.

I'd like to participate in more discussions and hope to do so in the future.

I agree with those posters who argue that other forms of social media have become more popular than discussion forums, particularly among a younger -20-something- age group.
However, there have been plenty of discussions over the years in the General section on subjects like alcohol, food, tv and culture, films and so on, but they only thrive if members contribute. I suspect most visitors to HA are not interested in posting contributions and are really here for the visual stimuli and any links they cant get to other websites or events in the real world. There are lively discussions in the Politics & Religion section but most members of HA never contribute to the section even though sometimes they post their opinions on threads which exist in Politics & Religion in other sections of HA. I venture to suggest that on some sensitive topics members of HA prefer not to tell us what they think.
There are also lively discussions in the Escorts section which do not just do what you would expect, but extend the news and reviews to discuss aspects of location, price, safety, and the behaviour of escorts and their clients which can often make for humorous or worrying reading!
I have taken an interest in other Discussion Forums on the web related to my work, but I do think that as a medium of exchange such fora do not have the vibrancy that they had when they replaced the yahoo groups and alt.dot discussion groups which no longer exist (?).
Nevertheless, I think HA is well-managed, has a lot more to offer than most Discussion Groups and may even be the best of its kind on the web, if that does not sound too pompous, and given that I don't know HungDevils or any other trans-related fora.

I'm glad this thread was started. I've been coming to this site for years, but rarely post as I generally keep my thoughts to myself. It's given me a lot of valuable insight into the thoughts and lives of trans ladies and has exposed me to others' perspectives. It is, however, becoming more and more difficult to sift through the juvenile rantings and fantasies to find some beneficial conversation, the result being what used to be a once- or twice-a-day visit is now an almost begrudging once-a-week view (and I usually leave more empty-handed, metaphorically speaking, than when I arrived).

While I'm all for free speech, the idea behind that "right" is that adults have the ability to govern themselves appropriately in a public forum. It's probably naive and hopelessly optimistic, but at least it sets a high bar for humanity. Credit to the mods who do a fine job as bouncers when things go way out of bounds, but, on HA, any conception of tact and decorum seems to get checked at the door when a lot of people log in here and that, of course, is directed by the individuals and broader community. In general, it seems to be more of an anonymous confessional for impulsively blurting out your basest pent-up feelings, so, of course, there's not going to be much profound conversation to spring forth from that. If anything, it's actually helped me understand the level of crude, embarrassing behavior which women have complained about since the dawn of time. I can't tell whether some guys just weren't raised to respect others or if people just feel like trans women don't fall under the same umbrella as GG's when it comes to appropriate conversation, but that's another topic.

The majority of the "General Discussion" here is overrun by "Whose kneecaps would you fuck?!?!? Post your pics here!!!", "12 1/2-inch dingalings hanging out of scuba suits!!" and "I wanna fuck TS Lola Longlollipop! Who's with me?" What should be given some consideration is dividing the forums up a little more like what's done on freeones. They have areas for "Niche/Fetish" where you can dissect and compartmentalize to your heart's content and they also have a star-specific section for threads dedicated to just one lady. These areas are generally photo-heavy with plenty of lustful worship and limited actual "discussion". Judging by the amount of traffic that occurs on here in one day, I think breaking GD into three separate arenas would still be sustainable and maybe we could have areas where some actual lively, thoughtful discussion is appropriate and encouraged while other areas could be the little masturbatory hideaways they need to be.

I look at the limited amount of posts on the TER board and find quality there, probably because the few posters steer the discussion on there by clamping down on the immaturity pretty quickly (that's the side effect of actually interacting with these ladies and not just objectifying from a distance, I'm guessing, as well as the fact that those of us that hobby tend to be older). The upside to that is there are some very smart, witty and honest girls on there who bring genuine thoughtfulness and fun to the conversation. I don't think any of those girls post here and probably for a reason. Wendy, Christian and others go out of their way to make this community fun, personal and entertaining in its own right as a more porn-centric forum, but it takes real effort to look for those posts through the knuckle-dragger comments.

Again, moderating is needed to control on some level, but consider better-defined sections so that General Discussion isn't so much of a willy-nilly free-for-all.

Battles are things that take place within the context of wars, and wars require there to be sides.

They also inevitably create collateral damage.

The problem with having fun with gender topics is the level of risk it carries. Before our society got caught up with social media websites anyone could jump on the internet and protect themselves with as much anonymity as they needed say by using stage names, user names etc. If they were smart about it, risk was low and reward was high. This is in contrast to today's social website world where everyone gets linked to their real names, their careers, and their entire social circles.

With something like transsexuality it goes without saying that many of those who can get by living a stealthy existence, choose to do so. With homosexuality societal acceptance does not strip one of their identity. Someone can come out of the closet, and everyone around with them continues to see them as the same person whether they like that characteristic or not.

But with transsexuality its really not like that. Things like passing is based on subtle cues, observations people make that they don't even realize they are making. In this context, if someone's status or past is revealed its like a magician's act being explained to the audience before they get to see it. Those things that no one noticed before, that occasional vocal flaw, that scar where ones' adams apple was (if it were even removed), ones statistically abnormal but not unprecedented height now go from being invisible to visible, and everyone around you no matter how much they are accepting, will and do treat you different. Notice how these accepting people will never talk of a woman who is trans as if she were a woman, but instead always attach the prefix "trans-woman" in every chance they get instead. The same who, as have done in other countries, have taken a separate but equal approach to things like identification papers & public bathrooms, essentially requiring by law everyone to follow these forced-into the daylight existences whether that's the life they want for themselves or not.

So what happens is as follows: Those who care about their public anonymity eventually disappear, leaving those who do not care to protect it- like the loud and obnoxious SJW crowd on today's social media websites like Tumblr who are so caught up with their own views & agenda that they will eagerly destroy anyone they think stands in its way.

Ever hear of Oliver Sipple? He was a Vietnam War hero who was a closeted gay guy. One day, purely out of chance he was near president Gerald Ford when a crazed SJW stepped out of the crowd and tried to assassinate him. Sipple was in the right time & place to save the president's life, and that's exactly what he did.

Moderation here largely consists of deleting links to tube sites and/or pirated content, as it says in the rules of the board. As far as I know, you just can't upload stolen content to youtube either, it does get deleted when reported. So no difference there.

Quite frankly, I appreciate the moderation here. I've been here ten years and have seen the cycles. You can say anything of significance you want here. We have disagreements and not always polite. But that's all right. What we don't have a lot of is trolls, bullies and liars. A place is no better than the asshole trolls who dominate it and bully the people who want to hang there. I was glad to find this one. At first I thought it was all picture threads. I won't deny that I like looking at them, but all that can be found elsewhere and doesn't require registration.

I believe an easy remedy would be to open up a separate forum for all the picture threads so the actual discussions can remain on the front page. If the picture threads were to be separated into another forum I feel it would be easier for the people looking for a discussion to not feel like they're bumping old threads when the picture threads are being bumped every 30 minutes or so.

I actually think it would be easier to moderate since now all the discussion threads would be at the forefront of the General Discussion forum.

I never said porn wasn't visual. The issue is there isn't an ongoing discussion in the 500 page picture threads. I am looking at the first page of General Discussion and I only see three or four threads that are actual discussions. The rest are picture threads. Yes, it is extremely troublesome. Which is why all forums separate their content into different sections. I just don't agree that picture threads and discussion threads fall under the same category. I also feel that the discussions would be easier to find if I didn't have to sort through numerous picture threads to find one discussion thread. I'm interested in reading the thoughts of the women who star in scenes I enjoy. The same way people are interested in the thoughts of celebrities I wish it was easier to see the ongoing discussions with some of the talent. Which is why I feel the "Ask ChristianXXX anything" thread is such a brilliant idea. Imagine if the first page was filled with similar threads for the active stars on this forum. Clearly I can't make a thread for these people, but I would love to join in on one started by one of the stars. For me getting to know some of these actors/actresses makes the content that much more appealing. The same way reading about celebrities and watching their movies makes them more enjoyable and why it is such big business in Hollywood.

So for me that is one of the main things I wouldn't mind seeing more of on the main page of General Discussion. I just read through the first 20 pages of General Discussion and 90% of it are picture threads. There are some discussions I thought about commenting on but resurrecting threads from a month ago is frowned upon in a lot of places. I'm not familiar with the etiquette here and seeing as how someone tried to comment on my post count gave me the feeling that unless you fall in line with the status quo you'll most likely be driven out. Which is a shame because this forum is one of the only havens for individuals who enjoy TGirls.

While I don't see the need to break the forum into separate sections, I do think it would be a good idea to merge the multiple threads about Bailey Jay's cock, pondering whether or not someone is gay, or complaining about escorts that won't see black clients into one thread covering each topic and then sticky them. This way people interested in talking about those topics for the 1,000th time will know where to find them.

BTW, threads from several years ago have been known to be bumped. So you are not going to run into a problem if you want to resurrect one from a month ago.

People resurrect posts that are years old sometimes, go for it.

To me, the main discussion board is the only board I go to because it has both discussions and picture threads that sometimes start discussions or vice versa. There is no need to fix something that isn't broken.

If you don't like the format of the board go make your own board.
