Meghan posted on Facebook one hearing from her sister, she passed Friday.

From on her Facebook:

I am literally in shock right now and quite sad to have to tell the girls of New Orleans and fans of Kimberly Divine "Jade" that I was just contacted by her sister JoBeth Williams Louviere (https://m.facebook.com/jobeth.w.louviere?refid=52&_ft_=top_level_post_id.1062539543810440%3Atl_objid .1062539543810440%3Athid.100001632139947&__tn__=%2As) who told me she passed away Friday in Los Angeles. I don't want to go into the details, I just want you to know that her family was with her when she passed and she will be taken home to Louisiana for her final resting. She and I were best friends for many years as most of you know, from New Orleans all the way to Hollywood where we started our film careers and lived only 2 blocks from each other for years. I will remember the great times and although you traveled a different path that some of us may never understand I will miss you. Rest In Peace and soar with the angels!

I just want to say thank you to each of you and especially to Steven and AVN Magazine for remembering my dear friend Kimberly Devine and thank you Wendy for posting this for her fans. As you can imagine the last couple of days have been very difficult as we try to wrap our heads around losing her so suddenly. I want you to know that her family is reading each of the notes and remembrances you leave here on this forum and asked to be linked so they could read them and they truly appreciate your condolences and kind words about her during this time. She was an amazing person, and she really did change the face of the transgender industry. I still can't believe that she is gone, and I am still in shock as are her close friends and family. Thank you again for your kind words I know she would have appreciated each and every single one of them and it means the world to me that you loved her as much as we did. Meghan

Kim was "the One" for me. She not only entertained us, but more, importantly, showed courage the world that being transgender was o.k. Especially during a time when it was not cool to do it. I respect her and all of those out there who are true to being themselves. Peace be with you Kim and thank you for being the example of person courage and strength. Kimberly was lovely, energetic, and creative in her video work, but that pales beside my memories of her in person, in about 1996, How vividly I recall her gorgeous smile, lovely Cajun inflected accent, gorgeous boobs, and the pursed-lips tattoo on her curvaceous butt, which seemed to blow kisses to me as we made love. Her little dog (was it a pug?) looked on jealously as we cavorted on her lower bunk bed.
Her friend Shawna (the one with the Romeo tattoo, what became of her?) later told me that I was among the fortunate few whom she allowed to top her. I am forever grateful for her generosity and beauty.
Kimberly, you were one of my first, and greatest TS encounters. May your afterlife be as happy and free as the all too brief time you allowed me to spend with you. Rest in Peace, and free of the burdens of this life.

So very saddened to hear of her passing. I remember my first trans crush was Kimberly. I remember when I was deploying to Iraq in 2003 I reached out to her as a fan and I was surprized by how nice she was to me. I still even have the picture she sent me, believe it or not that picture of her helped me through some dark times, another human being being that kind and taking the time for a total stranger. I whish I could have gotten to know her as a person, I'm certain her beauty as a person would be hard to match. Her beauty and her impact on this world will continue on and she'll be remembered and loved by so many.

Kim was one of my first crushes as I became aware of the transgendered scene. She was a trend setter. My condolences go out to Kim's family, friends and fans. I wish you all comfort during this time. May Kim Rest in Peace and be ever in the hearts of her loved ones.

Meanwhile, WTF is going on here with 2016? Every time I blink, someone I followed in my youth is checking out at age 74....Paul Kantner and Signe Anderson, Maurice White, and now Dan Hicks just yesterday. Bowie went a bit early at 69 and Glen Frey at 67....but 40 ? That's just too sad for words

do we know what happened?

Yes, she died. That's what happened. If your question is "of what", it sounds like morbid curiosity. It seems that the inference on this board has been whenever it's announced that a transsexual adult entertainer dies is that she might of had ... you know ... the dreaded "A" word. But the reality is, it shouldn't matter to anyone, except her significant other, her family or her close friends. Hormone treatments can do a number on transsexuals and can lead to increased risk of cancer of the lung, cervix, stomach, esophagus (tube fromyour mouth to your stomach), larynx (voice box), liver, and bladder. The risk of breast cancer may also be increased for MTFs who have takenestrogen over a long period of time. She died surrounded by family. That should be sufficient.

... She died surrounded by family. That should be sufficient.
Easy Tiger ...

If I was told ANY of my friends had died, I think my first question would be "what happened" or "how".

I take your point if the interest is prurient, but just being told someone that young has died, whether surrounded by family of not, leaves a bit of a hole if you don't know the circumstances.

I didn't mean to sound strident, my apologies. My point was simply to address the elephant in the room. We don't (I surely don't) know any of the circumstances. Just sorry it happened.

It's a normal impulse to want to know why someone died.
I've had close relatives who died while I was in the hospital and a doctor still couldn't give me the specifics about what literally started the death process.

Learning why someone dies can be a precaution for those of us still living, so I don't know why it's some big secret other than respecting the privacy of the family.

Also I don't think it's shameful to find out someone died from HIV.

As far as I am aware, none of you are family or close friends (myself included). I'm sure they know more. It's unnecessary for it to be shared with us if it's not already in the public domain.

Fine, but what I disagree with is that it's somehow 'morbid' or prurient to know and understand the death process.

That's a very normal, natural human impulse.

Of course, some people use the details of someone's death to judge their lives after the fact.
But for me personally it's just an interest in knowing what happened.

No one is suggesting her family has an obligation to share that info either.

.....I meant to suggest perhaps the cutting of a little slack might be in order as well when I saw this ystdy. Someone I admired and whose work I respected has passed suddenly and unexpectedly and at a very young age....I'm gonna say, well shit, that's a stone drag...., what the heck happened? Doesn't seem like an unnecessary question to me....certainly by no means "morbid"

.....this guy, on the other hand

I had no idea. Ironically, my favorite scene of hers is the one that didn't get filmed when she hooked up with her girlfriend, Cinder, bareback. (The only time she was with a GG on camera)

Just saw this the other day and couldn't believe it. She was one of the first TS's I ever knew about. RIP so sorry to see her pass so young. :(
