Hi All, this is a brief return as the bearer of sad news. Prospero, who graced these pages for so long with his wit, compassion and wisdom, passed away earlier this week after a brave and painful battle with cancer. I'm thankful to HA for being the portal for the close friendship that he and I enjoyed in the last few years, and I know that those of you who had dealings with him either on the boards or in person will remember him fondly. I've lost a very dear friend and I will miss him more than I can say.

Thanks for the update Robert Louis.
Prospero and I talked when he first found out - and a few times since. Although I never got a chance to meet him, as a moderator on this board (and before) I respected and really liked him a lot, and it's a shame were never able to get together for that drink we'd promised (I'm still holding you to a drink up North, RL - and we'll have a toast to Prospero).

As long time moderator to the board, I think a permanent post on Fallen Angels & Lost Devils (http://grooby.com/groobysteven/steven/apply-tg-model-grooby-2015.html) is in order.

RIP - and thank you for everything.

I’m so very sorry, Robert, that you lost a dear friend. My heartfelt sympathies to all readers who knew Prospero and enjoyed his wit, his insight and his kind yet just moderation. I never met Prospero, but he wrote in such a way that I feel I knew and loved him. I sadly felt his absence in these boards when he left. Now I mourn his loss anew, and with a deeper sadness.

Prospero invited me for lunch in notting hill , then he visited me in the flat I rented back in 2011 on Earls Court, then I met him again with RedVex in Westmister
he promissed me to help me getting phone numbers to rent a cheaper flat, and after couple of weeks he delivered, he was always interested in helping and always a gentleman

P.S. There's a Prospero on FlyerTalk forums (Aviation forum), pretty legendary member there too and a moderator. I always assumed they're the same person as they had similarities including living in London. The other Prospero is online on FlyerTalk right now, so they're not the same person.

Sad news indeed. Bright guy with a keen wit and arguably one of the best screen names on HA. Always had something to say that was worth listening to.

RIP Prospero

Now my charms are all o'erthrown,
And what strength I have's mine own,
Which is most faint: now, 'tis true,
I must be here confined by you,
Or sent to Naples. Let me not,
Since I have my dukedom got
And pardon'd the deceiver, dwell
In this bare island by your spell;
But release me from my bands
With the help of your good hands:
Gentle breath of yours my sails
Must fill, or else my project fails,
Which was to please. Now I want
Spirits to enforce, art to enchant,
And my ending is despair,
Unless I be relieved by prayer,
Which pierces so that it assaults
Mercy itself and frees all faults.
As you from crimes would pardon'd be,
Let your indulgence set me free.

- Prospero's epilogue from The Tempest - W. Shakespeare

I started off as a member of Prospero's Yahoo UK Transgendered reviews group back in 2007. With the limitations of the format and frustration with the lack of reviews being posted he urged migration to this place so I followed suit with many others and joined HA.

His genuine enthusiasm and love for t-girls always shone through and when I became a moderator he was supportive and guided me along whilst I found my feet.

As a prolific poster his myriad avatar choices were intriguing and the Heath Robinson drawing below is one he used himself and I post it by way of a tribute to the man - a doff of the cap if you will.

I've been gone from the board but I kept in touch with Prospero as best I could. I lost contact with him and was preparing for the eventual news. I'm glad the man is at peace. He was a very tolerant, free-spirit who enjoyed life and people and, on the time he spent on this Earth, lived a full life of adventure many people would envy. Rest in peace to my old board buddy. He'll be missed by many.

Terrible news. Unlike RL I never had the pleasure of meeting Prospero in person but we did exchange a few PMs and interacted in various threads and I certainly hoped one day to be able to attend one of his proposed get-togethers in London-town. I thoroughly enjoyed his skirmishes with Stavros over film and music and literature even if I did not always agree with him. I'll raise a glass to him and watch some of his recommended movies to honour him.

HA is a lesser place without him.

My thanks to RobertLouis as the bearer of sad timings. Prospero told me about his condition shortly before he left the board, and I admit I was shocked, he had so many more years in which to live and love. I found him to be a man of complete integrity with a love of music, literature and obviously film. He was inquisitive and kind, compassionate and creative. We exchanged some robust posts on politics, the arts and of course film, but there was also information and humour. It turns out that although he was younger than me we both went to the same Miles Davis concert when Davis appeared -once- at the Apollo in London in the 1970s. I never met Prospero but I always felt we we shared the same interests even if we disgreed on the details, as do most of us anyway. There was no animosity between us and I extend my condolences to his family and friends.
We have lost a powerful voice; another tree from the wood.

A man with an opinion and view on most subjects, had a eloquant way of reciting the verse and had the ability to think out side the box.
Communication was always a joy with such an intrepid mind.
He was missed when he left, and now he will always be fondly remembered.

i am very sad to hear the news. It turned out Prospero and I knew each other from many years ago and it was strange how we both took an interest in the TS world. We met a few times over the past couple of years and it was fun comparing notes as it turned out we had similar interests that we had not known about before. He was a kind, intelligent, thoughtful and gentle man who has gone from this life far too soon and will be sorely missed by many.

When Prospero said he was not going to be posting for health reasons it stood to reason he was not well. I did not know what he was afflicted with but I vainly hoped he would recover and be back. He was a very decent man, with a conscience, and many useful insights to share. It's not just that his presence will be missed here...the knowledge that he has passed away is painful because he was such a good guy. RIP.

I will be honest, I didn't always like Prospero or what he had to say. I had some heated debates with him at times. But this doesn't mean that I shouldn't give my condolences to his friends and family, for them, I am sorry for their loss. And even though I didn't see eye to eye with Prospero, he did have a knowledge of things, a knowledge of words and experience that I did find intriguing.

I know most on this forum are not religious, but I am and I will say a prayer for Prospero's soul. I hope he is in a nice place, a place to be free.

So, good bye Prospero. You might not have known it but I did find our encounters interesting.

I'm very sad to lose such an awesome person, friend, partner as "Prospero".
I had the honor to meet this wonderful man when I just arrived in London and absolutely nothing know about this beautiful country. He was one who gave me a helping hand))). We visited many amazing places in London and he told me many interesting stories from his life. Each time we met he brought for me my favorite flowers and a selection of music and literature. Its very hurt to realize that "Prospero" is no longer with us.

Just to let you all know that Prospero was laid to rest on Wednesday in a beautiful woodland glade in a peaceful part of Hampshire. And it was both a sad and happy occasion, full of good memories of a fine man, a true friend, and an exceptional human being.

Sleep peacefully, my dear friend.

Thanks for sharing the news, RL. I think many of us were sorry to see him end his participation here and now we know why. A good man. May he rest in peace.

Just come onto the site after a very long time and was shocked to hear of Richard's passing - I had not heard from him for many months and had assumed that he was working in the Middle East.

We shared, by email, many stories and many of the same LB's over a great number of years, although we never physically met.

He was gracious, generous, kind and a true gentlemen.

He will be greatly missed.

I had a horrible feeling this was on the way, although I had no idea it would be so soon.

Even so, I'm very sad to hear it. It's tragic.

I just found out about this recently, so I'm sorry I'm late, but I wish to express my condolences. Prospero was a damn good man who did his best to ensure a level of fairness here at the board. Rest in peace, my friend. The world needs more like you, not fewer.

Wow I cannot believe Prospero is gone :heartbroken:

I got to know Richard through a mutual friend and it turned out he also knew someone else I knew (small world).

I found Prospero to be an honest caring man who was very much a humanitarian.

He really was straight up kind man and one of the nicest people I have come across, so I write this message here today to pay my respects to him.

You will be sorely missed Prospero God Rest Your Soul...
