rumor? truth? from a baseball perspective, who cares?

rumor? truth? from a media circus perspective, this is the last thing the yankees need.

rumor? truth? from a transgender advocacy perspective, to me, i wish it was not such a polarizing athlete involved, but i'll take it.

Pure rumor. About as much credibility if I floated it in cyberspace.

We all know TS have fucked around with pro athletes anyway.

A man is a man is a man, and if joe schmoe gets hard for trannies, so do famous dudes.

yes but as a yankee fan...and an guy who never wanted a rod on the team...it sucks that this is just more distraction for the team as he is making his come back.

now...as to transgender visibility, as i said, i wish it were someone more liked. no professional athlete has had an open relationship with a transwoman. fucking around is wholly different.

half of me wishes (as a yankee fan) that this is just a rumor but the rest of me wishes it is true.

It would be cool if he had a presser with his new alleged GF.

I might become a Yankees fan, temporarily.lol

I have always thought he might be trans. He has too much unique beauty not to be sensitive to the spectrum.

A-Rod is dating Torrie Wilson, a model. There have been multiple reports in the media about the Yankees front office trash talking her. She is a fitness model and they supposedly think she was an influence on him using PEDs. There is so much BS that the media makes up about this guy, including the Torrie Wilson rumors. I almost feel bad for him, even if he is by all appearances a huge dick. Yes, he used PEDs but he's an outstanding player and at the end of his career, we're all going to look back and be glad we are able to watch his great career.

I honestly don't care about A Rod, Baseball and his sex life. If he's dating a TS woman then good for him.

Distractions, more like excuses. The 1970's Big Red Machine were champions, and those guys hated each other. Winners get past this sort of thing because they want the best players on their team, and they have an almost uncontrollable need to win. I know this, because I'm a Padres fan, and boy do my guys suck.

That said, anyone got the topless photos of the Michael Phelps ex? She was kind of hot.

Kobe and Shaq hated each other and won three championships. Sure its a different sport, but it's another situation with players hating each other while winning.

Today's culture has changed a lot in sports. Players who hate each other don't play together anymore. It's more about scoring a big payday instead of winning a title.

he has apparently broken up with torre wilson per news reports. to me, she was the hottest of all wwe divas and probably the hottest woman he has been linked to. if they broke up, it won't be long till she is linked to some other famous person. it is just the nature of being a celebrity.

I don't necessarily agree with this. The Big Red Machine was actually pretty close. When you have strong leaders like Dave Concepcion, Johnny Bench and Ken Griffey, they're not going to let any BS get through. I think the other poster's example of Kobe and Shaq was a better example.

As far as the Padres, they look much better this year. Most reports out of their clubhouse say there is a really loose and excited atmosphere. Matt Kemp gets a lot of flack, but the guy knows how to lead, and he'll take a lot of pressure off Upton. I think the Padres are a team to be reckoned with this season.

Michael Phelps' ex did a porno, so you can see her topless, bottomless and getting fucked.

I didn't know that. I still don't think he's dating a transgender woman though. He's been very focused on his public image lately, and unfortunately, our society would still view that negatively. Hopefully someday soon it won't be an issue!

What BS has the press ever made up about A-Rod? He is 100% responsible for all the criticism and/or bad press that he has gotten over the years.

While I will always be grateful for what he did during the 2009 playoffs, I never wanted the Yankees to re-sign him after he opted out of his contract back in 2007.

But at the same, I didn't want the team to find a way to weasel out of the contract they signed him to. They were dumb enough to give him all that money, they have to live with that mistake for the next couple of years.

As long as he hits about 272 with 15 homers and 88 RBIs' while not finding a way to make this year about himself, I can live A-Rod still being on this team.

I'm not sure how closely you follow baseball, but A-Rod took a TON of flak this offseason for taking grounders at third base. Apparently, because he decided to practice defense in case he was called on because of injury or rest, he is a selfish POS that wants to cause trouble if he doesn't get the third base job over Headley.

I could come up with plenty of examples, including how he was criticized a few weeks ago for showing up to Yankees training camp early, but I think this is good enough.

A-Rod will immediately help what was not a great Yankees' offense last season.

Okay. I read both articles and there doesn't seem to be much there. If anything Klapisch does make some valid points.

He makes a valid point that A-Rod is selfish for getting in shape and practicing for the upcoming season?

I didn't see anything in the article where he criticized A-Rod for getting in shape and practicing for the upcoming season. His valid point would be this:

"The Yankees want Rodriguez to DH and back up Chase Headley no more than once a week at third base. That’s about all they can expect from a 39-year-old ex-steroids user with two bad hips. Rodriguez, however, still doesn’t realize he’s been marginalized, according to one friend who says, “Alex is obsessed” with the idea of resuming his career on both sides of the ball".

And this:

"It’s a flimsy theory, but even if he sticks it out, there are plenty of talent evaluators who believe there’s no chance A-Rod regains the monster skills of his past. First, he’s pushing 40, his muscles don’t fire as quickly. Second, he’s off steroids (we think). Third, he’s been out of the game since the end of 2013 and aging players do not improve with inactivity".

Also a lot of the flack A-Rod got wasn't about him showing up at spring training early. The coverage had to do with his 2015 apology tour. You know the tour he seems to make every few years or so.

Really? I miss the Padres news now that I'm back in mid-west hell. Usually they are out of playoff contention by the first week of the regular season. I'll reserve judgment until the All Star Break, but I'm not holding my breath. I do like Kemp, still not sold on having to play home games at a park where its hard to put up runs. No hitters want to play there. They brought the wall in once, they could probably bring it in further if they really want to contend.

Growing up in SoOh, I used to go see former Reds players and get autographs. Some were class acts (Griffey, Concepcion) and some were just a-holes. I ran into Johnny Bench at a mall, and happened to have a card of his on me (early to mid 1980's, I think I was 11 at the time) and even then he wanted to charge me $20 for an autograph. You'd also hear a lot of the players telling clubhouse stories and who they didn't get along with. They put on a good face for the public, but they weren't as friendly as they came across.

Thanks for the tip on Phelp's ex. I'll have to look that up.
