Filthy backgrounds!

I think this may be my first rant on here.

I have just been looking at some pictures on other threads, and whilst I love the main content and concept of the pictures in general there is one specific thing that annoys, upsets and turns me off..... Filthy backgrounds of overflowing ashtrays and bins, half eaten pizza boxes and general shittyness.

The girls in these pictures have obviously gone to a lot of trouble to make themselves up and get the right gear and clothes for their particular look they then go and spoil all that effort by getting pictured sitting in a skip full of rubbish, or on a bed that hasn't been changed for a month.

Please girls, think!

Yes, but that is a very mild case. If you look in the "traps" thread you will see a girl sitting in filth with dirty clothes scattered around and a full vacume cleaner behind her!
It is obviously more prevalent in selfies as they tend to be in their own homes but with all the effort they put into themselves you would think they could find a clean corner or actually tidy up a bit!

Also happens a lot on dating sites etc.

With regrads to the picture posted. I wouldnt say that she went thru any trouble to get herself ready for the shoot.

And yes i am totally agreement about backgrounds. Were talking about roughly 6' x 6' area behing them, how much effort is it clear it out.

As a photographer, I tend to notice stuff like that. Shooting casual pictures, sure...but when trying to look glamorous and such the photographer should pay attention to the background as well.

Unless, of course, that's the look they're going for.

I wouldn't even walk on that floor let alone drape myself over it semi naked!

I have walked out of a few flats like this when visiting girls. It is a shame as often the girls themselves are very nice but a smelly room and sticky sheets are not for me!

You just don't understand aesthetics - filthy backgrounds are an important element of composition. See the problem is that people don't understand the value of a well composed shot... notice how the piles of dirty laundry set me off in this pic?
