Yeah, bigtone posted it over in the NY thread.

Fernanda, a 19-year-old Brazilian mtf transgender, travels to Milan and becomes a prostitute to finance a sex-change operation. Fernanda dreams of becoming a "real" woman but in Milan is transformed instead into Princesa, a mysterious figure of allure. She then meets Gianni, a straight-laced, married businessman who falls in love with her. It all seems to good to be true...and is.

Its director must be a chaser. Films like that do not help transsexuals to assimilate at all. At least hookers are shown as human beings, though...

By the way, it is not in Italian but in Brazilian Portuguese.

Acceptance in the bedroom leads to greater acceptance in other facets of life IMO.

I know portraying a TS as an escort is cliche, but she becomes a love interest in the movie too.

Acceptance in bedroom not accompanied by acceptance anywhere else with exception of the kerb leads to the cliche you are on about. It also leads to threads like "I'm straight but I need to justify it because I like to suck a cock from time to time" and I aint got the balls to say it to my girlfriend, parents or even "friends"."

Few will understand this film, yet many will see it as justification of their attitude towards transgenders in general as hookers and weirdos to stay away from unless you want to suck a cock and get away with it, or be it, have an exotic romance for a month with no responsibility whatsoever.

The film wasn't meant to be a vehicle for transgender acceptance, but rather on the inability of people to accept who they are.

i have had this movie on dvd for the last several years. i don't find it to be a piece of transgender advocacy nor do i find it offensive to transwomen. it is just a movie about a woman that has a hard and tumultuous life to me.

I really liked it, the leading actress was beautiful (her acting skills suck though), it Seemed very real and a lot of people in the comments section were saying the same thing.

The girl is transgender is real life right?

Yes...the actress who played Princesa, Ingrid de Souza, is transgender.

This movie was based on the life of Fernandinho Farias de Albuquerque, a travesti from the Brazilian Nordeste who grew up to become Fernanda and to use the professional name Princesa. She emigrated to Italy in 1988 to earn money as a prostitute and buy a sex-change operation.

In 1990 Fernanda was convicted of the attempted murder of a woman who had stolen her money, and in Rome’s Rebibbia prison she met Maurizio Jannelli of the revolutionary Brigate Rosse who worked with her to write her autobiography, which was published in 1994 in Italy, and in Brazil in 1995.

Princesa became the most celebrated transsexual in Italian song when Fabrizio De André (1940-1999) sang about her on the album Anime Salve, 1995. Listen to part of it here.

The autobiography was picked up by film director Henrique Goldman. She worked with him on pre-production, but committed suicide before filming started.

I'm afraid to ask how this movie does the "Crying Game" style penis reveal. Guess it can't be any worse than the "Bugis Street" walk in while some guy is tickling it with a feather scene.

Aside from the brief flash of tits n ass, there's no nudity...but I suggest you watch it anyway.

Nice change, no deliberate attempt to shock an audience. I might check this out.

Good day to kick back and watch this flick, especially since football is done.

there is no shock at all. the whole point of the movie is about a transwoman coping with the perils of prostitution and relationships.

Spoiler alert:

Felt bad on the scene where a guy thought he picked up a GG hooker but when the scene got hot and he tried to reach for those bacon flaps, instead he felt a penis and shoved the TGirl out of the car. Reminded me when I had a guy respond to a CL ad and didn't know what a "CD" was. He still wanted to persue out of curiosity (which I declined)
