A friend of mine that I have known for some years and that I have had contact with off an on called me recently. It was a while and her number is different.

She told me that she is in a program with the gov't that is providing her with hormone treatments and paying for her to become post op. The post op part I find suspicious especially since she has said this to get a reaction from me because I rather her remain pre op because I like her penis. She says this then she suddenly tells me that she was just playing. She does this when I haven't talked to her for a while I move around a lot so we don't see each other.

Is there such a government funded program that pays for a trans woman to become a post op transsexual? Has anyone heard of this?

Millions of crazy people are up in arms over the fact that their neighbors can buy affordable basic health insurance. In such an environment of hate and resentment against people having insurance to cover heart attacks or cancer, there's no way the government would be giving anyone money for help with gender issues, unfortunately.

I know that in Germany and likely most Western European countries hormone treatment and SRS get covered by public healthcare, but for the US I doubt that such a program wouldn t have ended up in right wing propaganda.

It can be covered in the UK. I've never heard it being called a "grant" though.
