View Full Version : Has Anal Sex Become So Mainstream?

Bit of a shock late last night. I went to the chemist's to pick up my wife's prescriptions and had a woman ahead of me in line. She couldn't have been more then 40. Among the items she was purchasing was a store brand tube of lube and get this, a 6 pack of saline enemas. I never seen these before, only the single or double packed store or Fleet brand phosphate ones. That had me curious. After I checked out, I went to the laxative section. Sure enough, both in store and national brands, they had 2,4, and a 6 pack in store brand saline. What the hell has happened in just a few years? Mainstream pharma has decided to cash in on anal sex it's that profitable? No other reason would they sell a 4 or 6 pack. What's next? A combination package of a liter of Vodka, box of condoms, lube, and a six pack of saline enemas sold in a liquor store as an evening kit? When did this start happening? It's not stuff we buy or laxatives, so there has never been a reason to go into that area except on occasion for indegestion relieving products and I've never really bothered to look down to the bottom where they have an enormous range now of both saline and phosphate packages. Used to be just the store brand and national brands in singles and then the store brands started to carry doubles. Six packs in saline? That's really saying something profound.

One thing change will bring is something new...ever thus. Sometimes evolution feels like revolution. And for those of us who frequent this site...we don't really have a leg to stand on.

I think it's super mainstream now. 4 of the last 6 GG I've been with wanted anal play in some form or another.

Alternative medicine has created a greater interest. People use enemas as a means to cleanse their body. In fact, people use different liquids, such as coffee enema. So it's not just related to anal sex.

Well I don't see it as mainstream. A lot of people view anal with pain so they are not doing it and view it with shame, especially men. The ones that do anal do it hard and heavy so they will buy a big amount of items. Just because sells are through the roof doesn't mean most people are doing it.

Anal is a great way to see Heaven when its done right. When people start randomly talking about anal like people talk about sucking dick, then we are reaching that point.

I do believe the reason why there are multi packs is because technically, according to the instructions, an enema should only be used once. The mix inside can only be used once. Then if you wish to re-use it, which you can, just use water and maybe a dab of lube or mineral oil.

I doubt "big pharma" is trying to cash in on enemas, boys. They are very cheap and also there are way better kinds you can buy at sex shops made of metal that connect to your shower head.

All enemas main "use" is for constipation. It is a laxative. Lots of old people use them.

It's not the age of anal. It's the age of Walmart. You buy/sell things in bulk these days, it just makes more economic sense all the way around.

I doubt this. If big pharma was trying to cash in on alternative health, there would be prepackaged coffee and herbal implant enemas. For the past 50+ years, not a single manufacture like Fleet ever sold anything besides phosphate, glycerine, or oil product. No pharma company has sold a ready made soapsuds or saline enema which would be the very first recommended by a medical practicioner over the first three. The average person even if sexually adventurous has no idea and probably would be scared silly of a shower shot type. Since women would be the natural recipient in a straight relationship and would be much more hung up about cleanliness down there, much more of them would be aware of alternative methods such as an enema/douche bag. Even so, during the past 50 years, convenience reigns. Very few if any women douche anymore by medical recommendation, those that do use disposable products and probably less then a fraction of a percent own or use an enema/douche kit. One would be hard pressed to find one in a store or chemist's shop/pharmacy beyond anything prepackaged. This isn't like it was pre-1960's when this was a commonplace remedy and every chemist's had a large selection of rubber wares specifically marketed towards women. Nowdays, women don't even encounter one unless it's pre-delivery having a baby and that's even changing. It's a foreign concept beyond alternative and natural health. Simply put, most women, and I have to emphasize this in a hetero relationship are going to be the ones that won't seek out similar equipment in a sexual aids realm. Female oriented botiques don't carry this stuff, that's only found in Gay sections. Sure there are some niche products for women and most of it is found online. I think we're seeing a cultural shift here that pharma is taking advantage of.

Dude...Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, Eckerd, Kroger, Tom Thumb, Ralphs, Vons, Food Lion, and many many other retail places sell enemas. They have been doing this for decades.

Their MAIN purpose is for loosing clogged up shit in your guts. They ARE prescribed/recommended by doctors ( been there, done that ).

Yes, I know many girls, including myself and Jamie who use Fleet enemas to clean out for anal, BUT the porn niche, especially the "anal" porn niche is TINY compared to the amount of regular people you use enemas as a constipation relief.

Read the label dude. It says it all.

Eva, did you read anything I wrote? Nobody, let me repeat that NOBODY in 50 years has sold anything but phosphate, oil, or glycerine disposable enemas in the recent history of disposable enemas. Saline has been the sole providence of home and hospital isotonic, hydrating, and non-irratative or purgative solutions. It's main purpose is for the body not to absorb the water over a plain water enema and as a post purgative soapsuds enema rinse. It's main use is for a lower bowel cleanse for examination rather then a forced laxative or used by experienced fetishist and those involved in anal play. While a quart or bulb of regular water immediately expelled presents no absorbtive problems, retaining a larger plain water enema potentially can disrup electrolyte balance or cause fluid retention. Saline is a very recent development over the older products. They would not be selling the conventional ones in a multipack as it would cause tremendous dehydration if overused or abused.

Ok, so? ...what are you getting at? Do it in one sentence.

Dude...DUH. That's why the label's instructions say USE ONLY ONCE and no more than one a day. So...by someone, as that lady you saw, buying a multi pack makes sense if she is getting them for herself or a loved one who experiences constipation frequently. Maybe they are heavy cheese eaters.

You didn't comprehend what I wrote. I understand all you wrote and it sounds like you're a conspiracy theorist and someone who knows how to google for information about enemas. I don't care about what formula they use and have used. That is not the proper response to my response to your OP.

The question is -what evidence is there that more women want to be penetrated anally? The evidence in the OP that it is based on the availability of products to make the experience more comfortable and hygienic cannot be asssumed to relate solely to sexual activity. When I had a problem earlier this year my doctor prescribed suppositories which act faster than most pills; there are sound medical reasons for using the anal passage for the medical treatment of illness.

Culturally anal penetration has been associated with shame, domination and subjection (as well as pleasure). I recall reading an article some years ago in which a Turkish transexual who had been repeatedly buggered by an uncle and his neighbour from around the age of 9-10 associated this with his feminization, on the basis that if he was being penetrated he must, in fact, be a girl. I once asked a female escort if she did anal and she was offended, and I think (most?) women still are. The increase in anal penetration films in the sex industry in the 1990s (think Rocco Siffredi) may have been part of a trend, but these films are mostly male fantasies, but I could be wrong.

It is the lack of solid evidence that makes me wonder.
