Someone needs to do a follow up to Paris Is Burning.
That's probably when I first became aware in a major way about transwomen after seeing that documentary.

Do you mean a new movie about the current scene in New York, or a movie to catch up on the people from the original one? Unfortunately, I think many of the girls from Paris Is Burning have passed away.

Thanks for the info, Michelle. I will definitely check it out.

No, I meant a brand new movie but similar theme.

It's crazy to think most of the girls in that documentary are indeed no longer with us, considering most were in their teens/early 20s.

I enjoyed the interviews, but it's not going to be viable as a movie.

Well i think the interviews will be used into a movie with other trans stuff. But this way ur just getting to learn about every girl because of course tons of stuff will be scrapped for a full movie.

As far as a sequel to Paris is Burning, there was one: http://artfromtheheartnyc.org/films/how-do-i-look/

Michelle thank you for posting this. Great stuff and very interesting and informative.

Interesting about the terms, Shemale came about I think from porn. First time I ever heard the word was from a porn magazine title or movie.

T-Girl is the most recent term I've heard and is the nicest sounding in my opinion.

Transvestite is the first word I ever heard regarding men looking like women and then the distinction came with the word Transsexual. I'me 58 now and the first word I ever heard regarding this was Transvestite and that they were basically gay [term used back in the 60s was homo]. We've come a long way since then.

I really love Mandy Mitchell, mainly her porn persona. I didn't really know too much about her as a person. My heart breaks for her after watching her interviews. It's like night and day. So sad. I heard she was going through some tough times and I hope she is doing well.

I enjoyed seeing how the girls looked in everyday type clothes. It was sexy to me.

We answered about 20 questions and went into detail on each, so I am sure there will be tons more videos released within time on Dave's site. His photobooks are huge overseas. He has a queer one coming out in Oct or Nov then he would like to release the Trans one he told me. He wanted us all to wear our normal clothes for interview and photos.

He said the movie will be a documentary with much more than interview footage.

He said the movie will be a documentary with much more than interview footage.

The good documentaries I know of are
The Queen 1968
Paris Is Burning 1990
Transgender Tuesdays: A Clinic In The Tenderloin 2012.

These all started with an interesting theme or event in the trans world, then fleshed this framework out with interviews/event footage.

What is here is a set of interviews, which I like because I'm interested. What I can't see is an interesting theme/event that forms a framework for editing these interviews into a documentary that people would wish to sit through.

I loved listening to all the interviews.. seeing some familiar faces who's stories I already knew some of... and then hearing the others girls speak.
My mom and I watched them together... a large chunk of my life was spent in foster care as my transgenderism was hard fro my dad to deal with and my mom wasn't able to be there when I was taken away. so though she knows me well now over the ten years we've been reconnected she doesn't know any other trans people. hearing her responses to various struggles was nice.. I can imagine what will go through the minds of anyone else who watches it... I do not know the one models name with the perfect teeth and tattoos but when she spoke about not being able to find love my mom was floored that a girl so beautiful couldn't find a good mate.. I hope that and many things that where said resonate within everyone who may unfamiliar to the lives many of us have lead to be our true selves...

thank you for sharing and thank you to everyone involved...

I think that is Foxxy you are referring to. She wore braces for several years to get those perfect teeth.

Nice to hear that you've reconnected with your mom.

this thread deserves a bump.
Not only does it show that these girls' beauty is far more than skin deep, it's a fascinating and touching insight into women that most of society can't get their heads around. I couldn't help think while listening to them that if these gals were allowed to enter beauty pageants, the average IQ of the contestants would increase by several - no - many points!

empowering, positive and positively educational...
on the downside, I fell in love more than a few times...

I am glad you guys enjoyed the interviews. I did that interview the same day right before my first major site shoot (Shemale Yum). When I watched the interviews I was pretty amazed at how similar a lot of our answers were. It is very interesting and touching. I wouldn't mind doing another interview on the topic of trans or adult entertainment. :)

I wouldn't mind either - to be honest I was hoping for a part 5!
