The lovie was 90. Acted up until he was 80. Directed award winning movies that meant something to him and to all accounts, lived live large.

If I managed to live half as well. Don't be sad when I go.

He was a giant of the british Cinema, first as an actor and then as a director and a stalwart of supporting british film making. I doubt we shall see his kind again.
