I've been buying music since I've had the money to do so, so I can't remember. Music is seriously my addiction.

The first one I bought with my own money? It's been many years and thousands of records purchased since, but I think it might have been Rock and Roll Over by KISS. What can I say? I grew up in the 70's.

Blonde On Blonde...Bob Dylan
...and of course we naturally assumed the title was in reference to a variety of hashish popular at the time

That I ever bought with my own money was a Nirvana bootleg off a market stall on cassette. I can't remember the title but it had a blue cover, mostly B-sides on it really. I listened to it until the tape wore out.

My sister bought every album under the sun, or rather, my DAD bought her every record under the sun.

As I recall (it was truly a looooong time ago), the first record I bought was a 45-rpm recording of the radio communication of Alan Sheppard's first spaceflight. First music record, I have no idea, but very likely a Beatles 45, or maybe Peter, Paul and Mary's Puff. First album likewise hard to recall. My older sister had all the Beatles up through Rubber Soul, so it might've been Sgt Pepper, or Donovan's Sunshine Superman.

i wasn't going to answer this when the first entry was INXS, because I'd seem ancient, but now that the old heads have responded I can say I'm not sure but it was probably something by the Jackson 5!
