H R Giger, the artist who caused many to nearly die of fright because of his monstrous creations has died himself at the age of 74. RIP ....

Like a lot of people, I first learned of Giger through the use of his work in the movie Alien. His vision of the merger of technology and the organic can be quite disturbing.

His Necronom IV was the image that inspired Ridley Scott ...

When I saw Alien it blew my head off, right off the margins of all my schoolboy notebooks. I have an autographed copy of Necronomicon, he has had a great influence on sci-fi and fantasy films. He didn't like it when people called him Geiger....it's GEEger!!!!!

I first learned of Giger from Celtic Frost's To Mega Therion album cover SATAN I. ever since then I've been a fan. and to me the man never did wrong. I liked every single one of his artworks.

true original artist in his own right. R.I.P.

I believe the first Giger I ever saw was from Emerson, Lake and Palmer's "Brain Salad Surgery"....but I had forgotten about that until I checked out this link : http://noisecreep.com/hr-giger-album-covers/

...Not everyone keeps up with the who and what in the art world, but H.R. Giger is well known for his work in movies and the music industry...and because of that, he is considered something that other giants in the art world don't always achieve....
...he is cool.

People covering themselves with tattoo versions of his art is often a testimony to that...

R.I.P. Mr. Giger....you are definitely missed.

here is the microphone stand, designed by Giger, Jonathan Davis from Korn uses...
