Much better than I thought it would be. Definitely worth going to see if you're considering it.

Yeah, I plan to see it. Not expecting much. But then that's when a movie can impress me: go in expecting little, so it can surprise and be, as you said, better than you thought it would be. Too often I go in expecting a lot and get disappointed.

PS Nice to see you in here JWBL!

I haven't yet seen the first one, so I have some catching up to do. They used our Redbird for one of the scenes. Here it is, on its way down I-95 last year.

where do i begin??? i actually can't because i don't want to spoil anything but while it wasn't the let down the spiderman 3 was, it was really close. it was very messy, poorly acted, lacked character development and overall sucked ass.

B1, that Redbird is an absolute beauty. that was the work horse for MTA's IRT line for Bronx, Bk, Manhattan routes for many decades. loved it

On the other hand...I loved it! While I really enjoyed Spider-Man 1 & 2 from Raimi, I just didn't like Tobey McGuire as Spidey.

But I really like Andrew Garfield. He captures that cocky, smart alecky Spidey I loved from my 70s comic books.

The Raimi Spider Man films were excellent because he made them well but I like the reboot better because of Garfield.

Both Emma Stone and Kirstin Dunst are both excellent in their respective roles for either director.

I guess the new reboot couldn't find anyone as great as J.K. Simmons to play J. Jonah Jameson. J.K. OWNS that role!

and for people in the know...both the second films from Raimi and Webb...121

It's really really ordinary. It seemed that it was written by corporate hacks to introduce all these future characters and sacrificed any real heart. The ending is what it is. I didn't like it the first time I read it and I still dont. Foxx is terrible, Dehaan isn't a whole lot better. Garfield sleepwalks through. The CGI is naff. Stone is good. It's a 5/10 at best. I'd need to rewatch to fairly rate it but I really dont have a desire to do so right now. Given how good Winter Soldier was a month ago it looks amateurish especially the battle scenes.

Winter Soldier was a better movie, they should have opened it in May. After what I have seen of X-Men sneak clips not much hope in that one either. On the other hand Guardians of the Galaxy will be the sleeper.

hmm...well let's dispatch one point right off...I will not EVER see guardians, not even when it is on HBO and there is nothing else to watch.

Now to your bolded point...I absolutely hated "The First Avenger" so "Winter Soldier," while itself a bad movie, was better than the first. I am a tremendous fan of Rami 1 and 2 where 3 leaves way too much to be desired so as a whole, though 3 sucked with too many villains and emo peter parker, i do like the rami flicks more than the reboot. Next, as far as the reboot goes, i believe though I didn't like amazing 1, it was superior to amazing 2. Which circles me back to your point...was Winter Soldier better or worse than amazing 2.

From a story perspective, it was just as weak. From an effect POV, it was superior because i found amazing 2 for be visually repugnant. so...i guess i agree, sorta kinda maybe, that it was better than amazing 2. i'm a little uneasy about that because its like comparing breaking your leg to breaking your arm...both suck but one might be slightly more tolerable than the other.

I like Sam Rami, but I exclude his movies from what was being down. While I am a fan, I thought while its good, Spider-man had could have improvements and the same with 2. Now this is about this summer action movies and not about past movies.

Since you brought it, Spider-man 2 (reboot) like the first one rushes the character development. Its hard to do something that was done not too long ago when spider-man 2 is fresh in our movies. In addition who wants to see the same villains as before.

When I watch a movie, I like to give the director the chance to do his thing. While its fun, we are going to have a long series of comic characters on the big screen till we get sick of it. It will be more and more, from both DC and Marvel. I do expect most of them to be decent, some good a lot bad, but a few shiners out there.

Back to your point, I like winter solider because it was an action movie and stayed true to it. It wasn't trying to be something else. Spider-man 2 suffered under too many clichés. I mean urgghh, I want to say but it would cause spoilers.

The reason why I want to see Guardians of the Galaxy, is because Disney didn't have much hopes for the movie, besides filling a spot, but apparently Disney was very shock on how good the movie was, so I will give it a chance.

Finally, lets be honest, movies have become nothing more than adaptions from books, tv shows and past movies. I mean freaking TMNT, please stop. Just stop. Then Transformers 4, I mean have we not learned from 3, I don't care if there are Dino bots. They ruined my childhood. And if they are doing He-Man, then I weep for the lost of my childhood cartoon innocence.

Shesssh, its like when porn went parody crazy, I mean there are some tv shows I never thought would be consider a porno. There was no tv show they didn't think could be a porno. I guess I gave more than my 2 cents.

it was much..much better than i thought it be, considering i did not like the first Amazing Spiderman which i thought was dull, especially slow 1st half and just not that appealing. i certainly didn't like the Lizard as the main villiain.
so my expectations were low and down, but the sequel was surprisingly good.
i really like the CGI effects, the speed and action sequences of the film, Amazing Spiderman 2 seemed so much faster, colorful and enjoyable vs the first film.
i didn't care for Jamie Fox's acting but i really did like DeHann as Harry Osborn/Green Goblin.

Movie sucked.

I'm sure kids liked it, though.
