The peaches really make it. Combination effect kinda like when you mix strawberries and anchovies too. Life don't get better than that.

Bleu cheese and pickles.

Not those nasty vinegar pickles, though- crisp brine pickles only.

Nutella and a spoon (okay that doesn't count)
Chocolate and malt
I put sardines on spaghetti but not that unique
softshell crab and rice

Do these have to be things that are rare?

Bosc pears, pecorino romano, and Chianti.

I will try this anchovy/peach combo. I can see how it would work.

I went to the Ralph's and mentioned to the lady. "Hey, you know what goes great on your low sodium roast beef? A ton of salt. Makes all the difference."

I don't think so. The thread started with ham and cheese. :-P

You won't regret it. I like my anchovies better with strawberries and the peaches really go well with the sardines. Nutritious. Delicious. Not in any way suspicious.

Not suspicious, nutritious or delicious -fruit with fish just don't go.

I like cheese with honey, the first time I had it was on the Oriental Express for breakfast and since then it has recurred mostly on Saturday mornings, ideal with freshly baked bread.

There is a Swiss dish I once had -Verlorene Ei ['forgotten egg']-a poached egg on a steak. I have been told Jews don't eat dairy products with meat, is this true? Does this mean they don't want parmesan on their bolognese?

Had a wonderful dessert in an little french restaurant in Duluth, Mn. It was basically slices of sweet, fresh pear on toast with a goat cheese and a drizzle of honey. Simple, delicious and easy do to at home too.
