"Speak to me, Warriors!" he bellowed, as the New Orleans crowd chanted his name.

Warrior put on a mask that resembled his famous face paint and cut a promo about 24 hours before his death that seems eerie now.

"No WWE talent becomes a legend on their own," Warrior said. "Every man's heart one day beats its final beat. His lungs breathe their final breath. And if what that man did in his life makes the blood pulse through the body of others, it makes them bleed deeper and something larger than life, then his essence, his spirit, will be immortalized."

Going back in time over Jim Hellwig/Ultimate Warrior's career. He started out in the Memphis territory teaming with Sting before going to Mid-South together becoming The Blade Runners working for Bill Watts. The Blade Runners split up with Sting staying with Watts until he sold to Jim Crockett Jr becoming a big star as well. Hellwig went off to Texas becoming The Dingo Warrior before getting signed by Vince McMahon and the WWF ultimately becoming The Ultimate Warrior.

haven't watched wrestling in a while, but this actually charged me so much i think i'm going to running splash then proceed to gorilla press drop my neighbor. any rational warrior would do that right now

Hard not believe that steroids didn't take this man down in his early 50s.
I don't know his medical history but he seems like he had heart problems.

Juice enlarges the heart making it harder for the heart muscle to pump blood.

Dying at 54(??) is rarely from 'natural causes'.

There's also a culture of heavy drinking and drug abuse in pro wrestling. I was wondering if he partied too hard after being inducted into the hall of fame.

Remarkable window into an American sub-culture about which I knew - and know - nothing. Sad waste of a life. RIP

Sad waste of a life. RIP

He died young but didn't waste his life. Can you imagine how many kids would dream of beating Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania and achieve that level of stardom? Ultimate Warrior had mega-fans all over the planet.

Sad waste of a life

how exactly did he waste his life? he did what he wanted to do, inspired lots of people (i was a fan growing up) and was even inducted into the hall of fame. how exactly is that wasting his life?

People forget that the Ultimate Warrior was a consummate performer, maybe the best in pro wrestling.

If he was a bit more stable he would have ended up being the biggest star in the sport.

Out of the ring though he was a right wing douchebag.

Dead at 54.

is that considered wasting life? if he had lived to be 100 and never done anything worthwhile would that have been better?

btw: alexander the great died aged 32. how much did he waste his life?
