I have no idea about myself. I worked around many people in gyms and night clubs over the years in Los Angeles. I run into people I haven't seen for years and some of the things to talk about might be interesting or peculiar encounters with celebrities. If there are like a couple or three I get self-conscious not wanting to seem like I'm name dropping or trying to con them into thinking I'm buddies with famous people.

How bad of a name dropper are you?

my wife dropped her maiden name when we got married...that's the only type i care about. if one feels the need to tell me who they know or where they go, etc, then that means they are just lame. people who don't need to drop names are having much more fun

Here's the problem: a violinist, famous in his day used to come to our house on Sundays, but if I told you his name you would have to google him. On my first job when I left school, I was sent by my boss to buy some potted shrimps in Sheekey's, one of the longest-established and most famous seafood restaurants in London, where I found myself standing next to Bobby Moore -but how many Americans know who he is? More googling. I am sure some of us who have been to university had tuition from people eminent in their field but otherwise unknown to the general public. When I was a Labour Party activist in a famous/notorious London constituency, I hobnobbed with a couple of rising stars one of whom once gave me a lift home from a meeting we went to in London, a person who remains on the Front Bench of the party, though I doubt anyone outside the UK has ever heard of this person, so it does rather beg the question -Who? If you have to google the name was it dropped, or just picked up with curiosity?
The one name I won't drop is due to the fact that I can be seen in a rock video with one of the most famous bands of the last 50 years, but I wish I wasn't. Some names are best not dropped at all.

So that's why your sentences ran consecutive. Too late for Larry H Parker. Slip on a banana peel next time.
