I had no clue about LaWanda Page's skill set as a stand-up comic. I missed out. Were you a fan of her other than as Aunt Esther? She was so good I almost thought she was Aunt Esther 24/7 cussing out "Fish-eyed fools" in traffic also.

I went to elementary school with Lamont's(Demond Wilson) daughter and often mercilessly hit her with my Redd Foxx impersonation yelling out, "You big dummy!" I'd apologize if I saw her now. Even in the 4th Grade I was an asshole. Last I heard Demond was on the radio laughing and scratching with the Larry Elder.

Although his later stuff was terrible, I have to thank Eddie Murphy for getting me into Richard Pryor and Redd Foxx. If it wasn't for Harlem Nights, I'd have had no clue who Redd Foxx was. And as a child of the 80's I know Richard Pryor more for his Gene Wilder team ups than his other (and much funnier) material.

That's the thing. I was shocked hearing Aunt Esther sound like such a heathen. Woodrow even dropped his bottle in amazement.

Redd Foxx and Richard Pryor were classic pioneers and courageous comics. I say if something is funny then it's funny. My own King Of Comedy George Carlin would agree. Bit of a thrill making someone laugh at something they feel uncomfortable about. I do a decent impersonation of Richard Pryor imitating White people.

I've always been a fan of Sanford & Son having the opinion that's it's definitely top 5 in best all-time sit-coms. I have the box set of the whole series. Thanks to all who contributed in this thread. You made the show even more fun now.
