View Full Version : Hedonism says NO to promoting a ts event...

So my bf had the idea of contacting Hedonism Resorts to book, promote a ts porn star event @ their resort in Jamaica. I thought it would be great, unique, and something that would be profitable (since it has never been done before) and he contacted them for me.

Seeing as they sponsor all kind of events- including bi/lesbian ones- we figured the might go for the idea.

Unfortunately this is the response we got from the club manager:

"I have gone over your site and it is unfortunate but I cannot promote a group on this nature to the resort, I can only do promotions with mainstream adult stars ."

Of course they have the right to say no- but it proves to me that again some people within our own industry can be the most close minded about transsexuals. I have experienced this first hand and know it to be a fact.

It's a shame how much money transsexual adult product generates, but yet we are still not seen as 'mainstream' enough for so, so many things.

It really makes me angry :x , but it's their loss. ENTIRELY.

Two steps forward, one back. That's shame on them, Allanah, but kudos to you for trying, and keeping on keeping on.

He should have been straight up and just said, "we don't want to do it."

Hotels and resorts are so damned wierd on shit like this. We used to have a book/trade show at the Sheraton in Silver Spring, MD. Every year, about five or six hundred people would gather and do the pro/fan/party thing for three days. Sure, we got a little wild (Snakes in the hospitality suite, a massive party in the ladies room - moved to the men's room, etc.), but we never caused any damage and a good time was typically had by all.

Then the Boy Sprouts came.

The last year (I think it was their 24th) the show shared the hotel with a couple of Boy Sprout troops on a tour of our nation's capitol. By the end of the weekend, these diminutive terrorists had thrown fire extinguishers off the roof into a major boulevard, smashed a plate-glass window in the lobby, and triggered numorous false alarms, much to the dismay and anger of the local FD.

Who got punished?

You betcha, it was the annual event that had loyally used this venue for two decades. Because, as we all know, the Boy Sprouts would never, ever do anything bad. :x

Jeez. What defines "mainstream" for these people? Money? Well, duh! We have that too, and our best option is to take it elsewhere and make sure they =hear= about it.

sorry to hear that Allanah let me apologize for them because i am jamaican.

jamaicans as a whole are by far are the most close minded to anything "unique"

for example if you are gay and you get killed down there the attacker doesnt get prosecuted

there pretty much close minded to anything there not use to or what anyone doesnt considers normal

well jamacia and other carribean islands arent very open about their TS communities. Ive heard of gays and TS killed down there, and the govt. doesnt bat an eyelash. Would be alot of fun for an event down there, but some of the locals wouldnt be to pleased.

Having lived in the Carribean for nearly 5 years,I can attest to the fact the whole time down there I dont recall seeing one native TS nor a gay.

Further,I was at that resort in 2000 and although it was a nice place w/ a nice beach, there were plenty of "alt" lifestyle people there,so why the anti-TS stance is beyond me.They proudly advertise lesbian and swinging weeks,so to me Allanah this sounds like a clasic case of TS discrimination.

Hope you get that project going elsewhere(perhaps Mexico or D.R.) sounds like a fun time!

The majority of people think that lesbian=bisexual. After so many years of being conditioned by porno that lesbian sex is hot and will eventually involve a man, it's acceptable.
