To me it looks as if a few things are missing from the story:

So who paid the thousand's of dollars needed to move into a new apartment, and how do you even get one in your name with no visible means of support? you know, i already did this same type of thing. it was called "do me a favor". basically how it worked was i sent you a bill in the mail that i didn't want to pay, and you paid it for me.
