Was watching this on the BBC and went to read the whole story but couldn't find it on CNN?

Would seem like it's more pertinent to the American people than some of the other news there (Puppy story is number 1?).

Yeah I called them up and let them know after I posted this.
I'm glad they took my advice.

There is a good book out there by Amy Goodman, "The Exception To The Rulers". She is the host of Democracy Now! which can be heard on Pacifica and NPR radio stations.

A good portion deals with how the American Media is dealing with the Iraq situation. It is a good read.

By nature, the US media is going to be biased to a certain degree and report certain items. While I love to browse the BBC for other sides of story, Amy Goodman drives me crazy. I'm to the left of a Republican, but to the right of a liberal democrat and I find Goodman to be totally out of touch with mainstream America. She appeals to those on the extreme left.

She reminds me of a Male to Female Ts.

Wait a minute. I really hope that you’re not attempting to imply that the "puppy story" isn't terribly important. Seriously though, I'm not surprised.

One thing that I've learned over the years: Staying adequately informed via the American media is damn near impossible (though the NY Times and a few others aren’t too bad). All too often, something isn't covered, or, if it is covered, it’s dumbed down to such a degree so as to be useless. The highly selective, agenda-driven coverage of the news by media outlets strongly affiliated with the Left and the Right renders a similar disservice to the American public.

Is it any wonder that the average person in this country is completely uninformed about even the most basic of issues? Here are some frightening statistics representing youths aged 18 to 24:

1. Only 37% of young Americans can find Iraq on a map - though U.S. troops have been there since 2003;
2. 20% of young Americans think Sudan is in Asia. (It's the largest country in Africa);
3. 48% of young Americans believe the majority population in India is Muslim. (It's Hindu by a huge margin);
4. Half of young Americans can't find New York on a map;
5. Three-quarters cannot find Indonesia on a map – even after images of the tsunami and the damage it caused to this region of the world played prominently across television screens and in the pages of print media over many months in 2005;
6. Three-quarters believe English is the most common spoken native language in the world, rather than Mandarin Chinese;
7. Only Two-thirds (67%) can find Louisiana on a US map and half (52%) can find Mississippi.

I first saw something about it late last week I believe, in fact I mentioned it to someone in passing at work, before the holiday weekend. Saw more and more of it as weekend wore on, probably CNN.

This is fairly common.

On Monday there was a story of proof (U.S. embassy documents) turning up that the Army in the Korean War had standing orders to shoot hundreds of civilian refugees when they were encountered. It was on the AP for all of about 10 minutes that afternoon.

It was all over the Sunday morning and Monday (Memorial Day) news. Some of the extreme liberal Democrats were kicking and screaming all day long!
