Hey guys,

I am looking for a software to illustrate 3D computer generated hardcore scenes and or posings.

I know there are a lot of tools.

I don't want to paint or draw, just being a director.
You know what I mean ;-)

Do you have any experiences?
Any software that is good for TS?

I hope my question fits in here.

Thanks for your help,
Rob

http://www.Daz3d.com - I use it all the time. Program is free and content is cheap. You can totally just fill it with completely malleable stock characters, set pieces, backdrops, etc. and never have to worry about design or building anything from scratch if you want to just 'direct'. Tons of youtube tutorials and forums to get you up to speed on how it works.

I use it to make really dark, amoral shit with monsters and fantasy characters, but you can do whatever you want with it. Including full on animation.

Here are a few of my own render examples. (First and third examples are actually models I made of myself. Last example required some Photoshop post work.)

Thanx! Most of that is test stuff.. a few things are from actual sets... I'm opening a whole new wing of my website once I have enough content to make regular monthly updates.

This stuff takes a while to do in a way that doesn't look totally cheapo.

Wow, those are some interesting renders. For the first few years of my 3D modeling career, I was a character artist. Now I kinda feeling like I'm missing out because I would totally bust out my Zbrush, my Photoshop, and my UDK to make a real-time shemale character just for the fun of it.

If you or anyone else needs some environment objects just send me a PM.

IKWYM with the time thing. I take my hat off to anyone who not only has the talent but the perseverance as well to do that kind of thing properly.

Talent is all drive. You can't NOT get better at something if you just keep doing it over and over and over and over and over and overandoverandoveroveroverververzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzz

Jamie that is amazing!

I wonder when software will reach the quality of images like this:

Dude, it's already there... those are DazStudio creations, (same program I use.) The secret to the detail and depth?

Two things.

1. Time spent adjusting and perfecting the lights, (Daz works just like a real movie studio)

2. The render engine. Daz3D has a pretty decent render engine built in to the program, but you can easily drop about $500 on the Octane Render Engine, (third party plugin) and render these amazing looking, ultra high quality images and movies. Engines like The Octane calculate 'light' in an entirely different way than the native engine built into the program. It mimics the actual physics of real light giving you much richer images.

The images you've shown in your example are themselves still on the cartoony side compared to what expensive engines can really do... check it:

Remember that the Octane render engine is GPU based so you'll need to have a very good graphics card to make full use of it otherwise you're SOL. As someone who has worked with 3d render engines, they are a pain in the ass and it takes forever to get that one frame. I'm so glad I work with real-time render engines now.
I've only used DAZ a few times so I can't really comment on it.

But, IMO, the renders that are kicking ass and taking names are coming from ZBrush; which I'm learning right now.
The 2 real-time engines I use, both of them are free, are UDK(Unreal Development Kit) and the cryENGINE.
