I just watched this, I have to say it is a very good coming of age movie about a young Transgender girl. Played by a real TGirl, Harmony Santana.

Well when they did the pumping scene I got a little sick, I feel for the girls what they have to go through to look the way they do.
Also the problems between her father and mother, mother is very supportive and father not so much but the scene when they fall asleep on the couch watching TV is very touching.

I have to say this isn't one of Esai Morales (the father) better roles, I think he could have played a much better part, he is a much better actor then he played here.

IMO it might have did better in theaters if it was a little less graphic, when she looses her virginity I think they didn't need to show her face when he was entering her for the first time. Then the hooker scene, well this story is about a High School aged child so it does give that underage sex feel.

So what do you think of this movie? I think it was a very interesting movie and I enjoyed it.

film made valiant effort at depicting trans suffering at the hands of anti-gay dad in homophobic Bronx thug culture. well meaning but lacked marketing effort so very few people saw it. sorta like Lone Ranger with zero studio budget.

I want to see this as well...pretty sure many of the girls I know went through this.

Yet another reason why I should get Netflix. Then again it IS available on iTunes...
