Back in the late 1960s and early 1970s there was a feeling that rock music was at the cutting edge of a revolution. Some thought it had political potential, others that it expressed the essence of a massive social change. it seems like a notion hard to understand today.

Mick Farren, a man whose name will have little resonance in the US, epitomised the british take on this - a restless man with a vision of revolution fueled by drugs and rock and roll. His music was pretty poor and his vision naive. yet he was uniquely of his time. He died on stage in London just a few days ago with his band The Deviants.

RIP Mick.

Sad to read. One of the few here in the US with Deviants CDs. Always thought that Jack Black the comedian, parodied Mick.
