Keep in mind that this is the guy who asked his black co host if Mac and Cheese is a black thing and wanted to know if she gave her husband blowjobs. Pat Robinson could say that he supports the United States being overthrown by communist lolcats and I wouldn't bat an eye.

Dear old Pat R, I love him. Didn't he say that Katrina was revenge on America for homosexuality... or was that 9/11? Bless him.

Yeah, between that and The Blues Brothers, I really developed a thing for 60's Motown and R&B. I've got Jackie Wilson's Greatest Hits in my I-Pod on almost constant rotation.

The Blues Brothers is in my top-five all time favorites. I just used this scene in a Facebook comment today :

I was stoned as usual, so I don't really remember why. Sorry about that.

Hold on! Wait a minute.

Pat Robertson is an asshole?

I'm a bit embarrassed about all those donations, at this point.

I thought The 700 Club was for life.

I feel like even bigger an asshole about the jumping in.

Then I read the article. Hmm! Interesting.

Whoops... I just read it too and jumped to conclusions based on his normal range of attitudes.

I'm not going to defend Pat (the SoCons drive me nuts) but when I saw the men stray clip I went "wow. He seems to look at the general picture, is the person trying hard to be good to those around them, if so their path could be OK. If they are creeps or assholes, they should be shunned.

It seems to be the basis for his TG comments also. We certainly need such support in our parents generation that TG is OK.

Regardless of faith I think there is no possibility of redemption for Pat Robertson at this point. His list of loopy opinions is probably longer than Falwell's was. It is nice that he's taking a reasonable stance on this issue, but who knows exactly why he's doing it; public opinion? a theological loophole?

I agree that the effect of his comments might be helpful regardless of his track record.
