I'm a little sad you all chased away Amber. She's a total sweetie. If you were going to chase one of our token minority performers away why not that nasty bitch Krissy. She keeps making all these threads onto ducking Asians. #fauxdrama.

Okay, on a serious note, I have met Amber a couple times in person and I've always had a deep respect for her as performer but more importantly as a person. I also know that racism is one issue she has no tolerance for, it's one of the things I respect her for. In light of some of the past threads I can't say I'm surprised to see her go but I'm definitely saddened. Still, I wish her the absolute best with her schooling.

I think what bothers me so much is that some of the recent racism that has cropped up is that it's very much out of line with the type of business Steven runs. I have never gotten any sense from Steven or his businesses of anything less than complete tolerance and respect for people no matter their race, orientation, or what junk they're packing. I guess that's why this bigotry toward performers of color is so saddening. It's precisely because it's so alien to the spirit of this space that it winds up tarnishing this forum with it's presence.

I understand how hard it can be navigating the fine line between creating a space where people feel they can discuss topics freely and maintaining an environment where people are civil and respectful of each other. Unfortunately those two spaces rarely coincide and you just can't force class on ignorant people.

I guess my opinion isn't worth so much as a relative outsider but I wanted to thank Seanchai for taking this topic so seriously. I just hope that certain posters can learn to grow the fuck up and start acting like mature adults.

Racism has existed on this forum for at least as long as I've been around. Can't comment much on the 2003 - 2006 yrs. The interesting thing about it is that one of the functions of this forum, that I see, is members learning tolerance about alternative genders, sexual orientation, etc. And, of course, racism is really the opposite of tolerance.

And on a less serious note... yes, I agree, Krissy's gotta go. Damn, uppity Asians.

GroobyKrissy

Well since we're being all serious and stuff.

First I must admit that I only read about the first three pages of the maligned (rightfully so) thread in question, along with the last (28, 29) because it just kept making me more and more angry.

That being said, I do think the terms "racism" and "racist" are thrown around far too much. The OP in that thread wasn't racist... just stating a rather unnecessary opinion in a rather blunt (read: idiotic) sort of way. The thread seems to devolve rather rapidly to having SOME racist elements in it... BUT, also just a bunch of stupid, poorly worded, and poorly thought out opinions.

I would say, let us start, from all sides, differentiating between the two.

Personally, I try never to resort to the "racism / racist" term because quite honestly, it is unassailable. Once the term has been used, the very question of whether it should have been used in the first place is, of course, racist. It is a circular argument that has no end and no beginning, which for geometry majors out there, duh... circular.

Clearly racism and racists exist. But so do idiots with big mouths, who are cowards, and who have no hearts, and who just want to spout off opinions and sound educated.

The fact of the matter is, through a forum such as this, it is nearly impossible to actually tell if someone is racist simply because you don't 'know' the person... You KNOW what they type. I think it is VERY, VERY rare when someone actually types something so telling that you can, in fact, state that they are definitively "racist". Almost everything else can be chalked up to opinions, idiotic or otherwise, and / or intentionally inflammatory comments.

Seriously, if I spent my time addressing all the emails I get where someone says, "Oh my god... I love you! ORIENTAL girls are so hot!", I would be constantly on my computer instead of cutting off drivers, running my liquor store, and doing mani-pedi's for right White folks. The racism card has been played out long ago. There are no more aces in the deck. Quite frankly, in this day and age of internet stupidity, there are only dunces with deuces.

Mmmm... no.

Even if you were to say he was ugly because he was Caucasian... that is not a racist statement. It CAN be interpreted as such. In and of itself though, it is still a preference / opinion which only YOU (the speaker) can judge. No one else can go into your mind and say you are saying that because you harbor some hatred of Caucasians.

Racism is not black and white (haha). Let me tell a story...

I went hiking one day here in Oregon in a predominantly Caucasian portion of the state. On the way back, I was dirty, poorly dressed, and probably smelled terrible. I stopped into a well-known tourist attraction to get a drink. I rarely carry cash and when I go hiking in the backwoods, I usually only take my license and CC. I grabbed my CC, leaving my license in the car. I walked into the store got my drink and was in line at the counter, which was all Caucasian with about 20 people total. Things were taking a while so I kind of glanced ahead to see what the hold up was. Turns out their CC machine was broken so they were doing it old-school by hand.

Now, about 5 people away from the counter, I could hear the transactions. These well dressed, non-sweaty, White Americans were handing over their cards one after the other and the counter person (older, White female) just ran their cards, willy-nilly. No questions asked. Keep in mind, this is a tourist attraction so people were buying T-shirts, logo cups, etc. etc. I had a Coke and chips. When I got to the counter, this person took ONE look at me and said,

"I need to see your ID" and refused to run the transaction.

Now... at this point, I can take this two ways.

A. This person is racist.
B. This person is a shop owner doing her job.

Open to interpretation. What should I have done?

My name on this forum says it all about my preference. Yes, I have a strong preference for black transgender women, and yet I respect all people as human beings. I am caucasian myself and so is my mother, my sister and my nieces, and I respect them and love them dearly. Frankly I do not come to this forum or post very often because I do find that many members cross the thin line between preference and racism too often and too blatant. I find this to be the case on many forums where many Americans participate. I was reading in the news that a city demolition crew tore down the wrong house by mistake somewhere in the US, and some of the comments on the forum were full of hatred against Mexicans. Is the Mayor of the town Mexican? I do not think so. Was the demolition crew Mexican? The news report did not say but most likely not, yet racism shows its ugly face even in situations where most people would not even consider it possible.

1. Not sure what you're referencing here since they are deleted but, Anti-Semitic comments are probably removed due more to sensitivity and taste than to abject "racism", especially if they reference the Holocaust.

2. If Libby removed the pics herself, or petitioned to do so, that is a personal issue / decision then and has no immediate bearing on your argument of this forum censoring (or refusing to do so) Members. Clearly, if you are posing in any military style outfit as a model, you should be prepared for the comments. I actually surprised there isn't more said about the "girls with guns" type shoots.

3. Can you please define what you refer to as "racism"? I'm sorry if I have missed it... like I said, I only read a few pages of that thread.

It sends the message that you're not paying very close attention. There have also been racist comments about African-Americans removed. Not all, but then again not every anti-Semitic comment has been removed.

There are entire diatribes posted about greedy Jews and Jews controlling the media. They are still here and to me I understood that I'd either argue with those people or ignore them. I also figured that not every comment is spotted because thousands are posted and I didn't feel like using the complaint feature since it wasn't that important. You do not notice because I've paid attention to most of your self-referencing posts and they tend to be extremely self-centered.

But if you are interested Amber, I can find the posts for you.

Amber is very self-centered. She did not notice many comments about Jewish people simply because they did not involve her which is why she now has the audacity to imply that Jews have gotten preferential treatment. Puerile nonsense.

She also has apparently not noticed the number of people who have been banned for making racist comments about African-Americans and how vigorously many of the members here (some of them Jewish) argued with them.

I agree with Seanchai's comment that in the rough and tumble of a forum you cannot expect to never see anything you don't like.

I've read the entire thread. I didn't see one racist comment.

I understand that attractiveness is a sensitive topic for everyone. Nobody said all black TS women are ugly. In fact many people said that many of the best looking black TS women don't shot porn. Many people also recognized the most popular and attractive black TS women.

Many members believe that attractive black ts women are underrepresented on the site.

The real problem is that Amber is upset that a black man isn't interested in black women, and demands for him to change sexual preferences.

We've removed many, many racist comments on all fronts so it's not bullshit, I'd say barely a day goes by without a deletion from one of the moderators or myself that goes beyond the lines of what I'm prepared to put up with. Since we took over this forum, the amount of racism and abuse has dropped massively. However, I'm not going to sanitize this forum - or any part of my company - into a overtly politically correct forum just to appease a few people who might have had their noses rubbed the wrong way.

You made a big exit statement - so either stick with your principles and keep out - or come back and participate. I don't care either way, I'm happy how we run this forum and confident that it reflects both my personal and my companies ethics and morals in both the freedom to argue a point or have differing viewpoints but to also moderate when people are clearly just here to cause a problem.

Did just that and she said it was "store policy" despite the fact that I had just watched her run transactions for all the people in front of me without asking anyone else for an ID.

I voted with my dollar and left after pointing this out to her. A few people applauded when I left and a couple put their stuff down right there in the line and walked out behind me. I also later wrote a letter to the managers of the attraction but haven't heard back.

It was an interesting incident and one that I think highlights that racism does exist. I think how you choose to deal with it says a lot about whether it will continue to exist or be stamped out.

...having been on the receiving end of those snipes and bites, just thought I'd share this: I posted a reply to a topic once in which I made a totally innocent and innocuous comment referencing a reply she had made to that same topic and which she obviously took entirely the wrong way and she jumped on me with both feet. I apologized for the misunderstanding (twice as it turned out) explaining how I meant no disrespect. And even while accepting the apologies (sort of) she was still adding little digs and jabs. This went back and forth there, to the extent where now the thread is all about Amber and not the original topic. It was at this point I decided well, the best thing for me to do is just ignore this person.

Terrific post Amy. The saddest aspect is that some of the posters hereabouts can't see or think beyond the end of their own egocentric dicks. How they deal with women, gg or trans, in the real world is a complete mystery to me. It goes beyond racism into sheer misogyny.

There are three options we have when confronted by racism and other prejudices and/or opinions that we find not only generally objectionable but believe to create personal offense.

1. Fight (in this context post back)

2. Flee (leave the community)

3. Choose to ignore the ignorant, the sick hearted and stop looking at their posts but let your voice continue to be heard by others on other topics of importance.

Racism has no place in society but sadly it does, I have no idea how many slights and cuts Amber felt she had either done 1 or 3. But to those that say goodbye threads are silly, there are plenty of folks that don't have a probably with a fellow poster saying see you later and giving others a chance to wish her health and prosperity.

just my take.

OMG, I just realized something,,, I am a racist,, hanging with bikers will do that to one. Maybe I should get out more. Still, whatever I am doesn't mean that Amber should not stand her ground. Just sometimes I stand over here, on a differing ground,, not really totally my fault,,, just my environment, one has to fit in ones crowd to survive. If I didn't be with racists then the others would have killed me,, I just wanted to live,, that's all I asked, nothing more, just to live. did that make sense?,, I'm kinda foggy in the head,, well, I'm more than foggy,, my mind is going, I better try and catch up to it. I'm kinda free from the bad men, but my mind is still warped a bit.

WTF! This is a site where to some extent almost every poster has either accepted their own or others transgender. And yet there is a problem with someone's religion or their race?

Pretty f'ing stupid IMO.

OTOH the thread about black t-girls sort of reflected the attitude of human disconnect when talking about people.

Call naive but if you can't folks do better in being sensitive to the fact that the written word has no inflection, no gestures, just words and when those words are poorly framed they can hurt others.

Good for you Krissy. Did something similar a few years back when staff in a cafe not far from where I live were studiously avoiding a young black couple. Waitress came to me and I said loudly that they had arrived before me and would she therefore serve them first. She flustered for a while but did it.

The couple invited me to join them so I did, and a number of the other customers came over to say well done. It's nice to be nice!

Excuse me, but what forums are you talking about? This one? Because if so, then you seem to be way too selective in censoring all the racist and other shit.. Take for example, the jerk who call himself "russtafa" and all the statements of this kind:

- i will piss on any muslim gave ,more than happy to
- fuck the muslim dogs my ancestors bathed in their blood and if i was of military age i would not mind a good bath lol
- they are just a bunch of muslims i hope they kill each other

Did you flag those posts and make a complaint? In what context were they used?
I don't read every single post on here - this is why we have a flag system. I don't read ANY posts in the "Political and Religion" section unless flagged and allow a larger leeway for posters there as long as they keep it in there and off the general discussion.

I've just looked at those posts and one could possibly have been removed, the other was in context and I wouldn't have removed it.

Do I have preferences when it comes to race and religion. No. I'm completely equalist when it comes to race and I completely loathe all religions but day to day, depending on the context of what's been going on in the world and people wanting to vent or have discussion about something horrible, then often there will be more leeway on their venting then if they'd simply created a post.

If you don't like how a newspaper is moderated or edited, then buy a different newspaper, the same goes for this forum - there are plenty of other forums out there.

Well, that's why a forum has several moderators, right? And this forum seem to have it.
But despite that fact, there are plenty of posts around here totaly ignored by the moderating
staff and almost ALL of them are attacking a particular religion and a kind of people connected
to it, totaly free and uncensored. Well that's too bad particularly because the forum seems to
promote your business as well, so it's not to be considered simply as a silly bullshit forum, but
a bit more than that. And this thing that I statued here is only a tiny sample, there are plenty more of such crap,
totaly ignored by the moderators. I simply felt i had to react here, since i know that it is a well-know, ongoing
uncensored thing here, and if you search you will quickly find a lot more.

But anyway, Your conclusion here is that russtafa is all set and i am the guy that should leave ?!?

"Pissing on any muslim grave", "muslim dogs", "bathing in their blood", "hoping they kill each other"
are "words in context" ?!? In context of what could possibly those horrible words be tolerated, please tell me??

Did just that and she said it was "store policy" despite the fact that I had just watched her run transactions for all the people in front of me without asking anyone else for an ID.

I voted with my dollar and left after pointing this out to her. A few people applauded when I left and a couple put their stuff down right there in the line and walked out behind me. I also later wrote a letter to the managers of the attraction but haven't heard back.

It was an interesting incident and one that I think highlights that racism does exist. I think how you choose to deal with it says a lot about whether it will continue to exist or be stamped out.

So you go into a store looking like the person sitting outside asking for change, smell like you haven't showered in days, have a credit card but nothing else, no wallet, no id no cash. Then get pissed when the cashier asked you for ID to protect the person's card, if it is yours or someone else's.
You are in line behind well dressed clean WHITE people with wallets, id's and cash.
That is what you know, do you know if the WHITE people in front of you have been there before? Did you study their transactions and see if they had their IDs exposed, like in an open wallet? No you didn't unless you were anticipating the situation.

Now lets just say it was not you but it was your card, the cashier doesn't ask for ID and rings it right up. You fight the charges and they go to the tape, you see the street person using it, what is the first thing you say? Why didn't they ask for ID? Look at that person. Sound about right?

Those quotes were in context to a news report of Muslim's urinating on British soldiers graves and I can understand how that would cause people to react, it clearly wasn't just a one off post.

Again, I must straighten out someone who cannot comprehend what they read.

A. I never said I got "pissed", nor did I approach the transaction as such.

B. The fact that people in front of me were clean, WHITE, and had ID's is immaterial to the point. (And, BTW... who would be sitting outside looking for change when they have a perfectly good CC to use? THINK before you talk.)

C. I sincerely doubt that people living in Oregon / Washington go to this particular tourist attraction more than once in a lifetime. Well, I'll just say what it is and you can make your own decision. It is more one of those "see it once, never see it again" things. It was the Stonehedge Memorial. It is so far out of the way and there is simply no reason to go there unless you're going specifically to see it... and certainly no reason to buy something at the store since it is overpriced. It was on my way back and I had never seen it... thus I stopped.

D. I specifically said that I could hear (and obviously see) all 5 of the transactions in front of me once I got to that point in line. Each person paid with a CC. And, no... none had open wallets or anything like that. That is just a stupid point. As is human nature, your eyes drift to where the motion is. Standing in line, you tend to follow what is happening at the register. I wasn't "anticipating" anything except to be treated like everyone else. I had a Coke and chips (about $3 transaction) VS. people in front of me with shirts, logo cups, food, etc. The person directly in front of me was about $60.00. You tell me why I was singled out....? You act like I was going around LOOKING to make a big scene. I am just NOT that person. This wasn't a "trap" or a "setup". I didn't film it for YouTube, I didn't report it to the local paper. Once I was out that door, done deal. I wrote a letter later. That is it.

E. In your desire to show off your brilliance, YOU have misunderstood the point of the post, which is to say, people INTERPRET things as racism differently, AND handle them differently. The whole point is that some people saw it as a racism (applauding when I walked out, and a couple leaving with me)... some people did NOT, or did not feel the need to speak against it if they did.

As far as ME handling the situation. I think it was racism on behalf of the counter person... "STORE POLICY". If it is "store policy" then you need to apply it to EVERYONE EQUALLY. Not just one person buying a Coke and a bag of chips. If she had even taken my card and looked at the back and THEN asked me for ID... I would have been OK. I have a bad habit of not signing any of my cards on the back so I would have understood that. She didn't even do that. She never handled my card at all. As I was handing it to her, she said, "I need to see your ID." Explain that...?

I VERY politely said that I had left my ID in the car but the transaction was only $3 vs the previous five transactions (all CC) which were all over $20.00. She still declined to run the transaction. You tell me if that is a reasonable course of action given the circumstances?

Look, you've made a lot of assumptions here.
You're assuming I was, "pissed". I wasn't.
You're assuming this is a major tourist attraction, with repeat business. It is not.
You're assuming the cashier did a lot of things she didn't do.
You're assuming that this elderly lady has perfect vision and can see and read an ID across a 3 foot counter.
You're assuming that some people paid with cash (no one that I saw did).

Your last point is immaterial here and has nothing to do with the actual way the transaction was handled.

Reread the post I made. The point is what some view or feel is racist some people will see as normal. The way some people handle racism is not the way others will handle it. Similarly, the way that some people handle other people who feel they must comment without fully understanding the entirety of a post.... well no... nothing similar. That is just plain stupid... as you have proven.

Oh geez. Yes, Stonehenge Memorial along the Columbia River.

Most people don't even know it exists. I think in all the time I've lived in OR, I've heard it come up in conversation once... which is why I don't think it is a logical jump to say this is a "one off" tourist attraction.

[EDIT: I do see I put "well-known tourist attraction" in my post... my bad. It should have read "little-known tourist attraction". I take responsibility for that and for any subsequent logical conclusions drawn from that statement.]

I was assuming you were "pissed" since you left and decided to share this overly racial sensitive story. I also never said that is how you approached the cashier in that way. I assumed you were pissed because you claimed other customers left when you were refused service, if you didn't cause a scene then how would they have known?

As for the credit card, exactly "think", you have from what you said, no id, unclean and most likely smell. could it be possible that you just picked that card up off the ground outside of the door? Think before you type.

So when you are in line you listen to everything the cashier does? Not really believable but it is possible, boring but possible.

In your desire to show off your brilliance, YOU have misunderstood the point of the post? Have you??

It is obvious you haven't, if you had you wouldn't have gotten all "panties on to tight".

God, you are irritating. Here... let me spell this out for you.

I'm not "claiming" anything. I was there. I have no reason to lie about this... the original post was a discussion starter to demonstrate that people SEE and INTERPRET racism differently. I actually stated as much if you cared to read and understand it. The ancedote doesn't portray me as a "hero" or "martyr" or anything of the sort. There is no motive to embellish or make up details. THAT IS WHY I ASKED THE QUESTION: "What should I have done?" If more people had actually answered the question, you would have had a rainbow of answers... WHICH WAS MY POINT. RACISM IS OPEN TO INTERPRETATION.

The post was not about me... IT WAS ABOUT THE PEOPLE IN LINE. Do you not get that?

However... to answer your points:

So, you cannot make a statement without making a big scene and being "pissed"? If that is the way you handle everyday life, I am sorry for those who come in contact with you. Almost every day us adults are put into situations we don't like. Most of us either deal with them quietly or voice something politely and then let it drop. I guess you've never experienced that. It is not "making a scene" to calmly as a question, then state that you'll go somewhere else for pop and chips and walk out.

So, you are saying that when you're standing in a slow moving line, you don't glance ahead to see why? And, when you're a few people from the counter, you don't automatically watch what is going on there? What do you do, turn around and stare at everyone else? I rarely see anyone standing in a grocery line looking around at everyone else... usually they're facing forward waiting and watching for their turn, which is what I was doing. It is also how the people in back of me saw what was going on at the counter. Are you really so oblivious to what is going on around you when you're standing in line, waiting your turn?

You are logically incorrect about a timeline here. At no point did the cashier KNOW that I didn't have an ID until she asked and I replied. Therefore the fact that I didn't have it on me is UNRELATED to her asking for it. So, who needs to do the thinking before typing?

And, what about her response, "Store Policy"... without asking anyone else previously? Explain that please.

You're taking my words and stretching them to their worst possible interpretation. It was a DAY HIKE... not a trek through the wilderness for 40 days and 40 nights. Sure, I was a bit messy and not dressed in clothing that people usually go out to tourist attractions to. I had on a T-shirt and some "worn" jeans with dusty sneakers. The T-shirt I used a few times throughout the day to wipe sweat away (Eastern OR/WA can get hot) so it was a bit dirty. Other than that, I was completely presentable. You make it sound like the others in line were holding their noses and staring at me because I looked like I just spent a couple of nights sleeping in a pile of trash. Again, incorrect assumptions on your part. I thought it was pretty clear that this was a DAY HIKE and I looked like I had been through a DAY HIKE... sunburnt, a bit dirty, and if you got close enough... probably a bit smelly. This doesn't translate into what you're saying it does.

So, all you have is, "...you claim". So that's great. Instead of putting on your big boy pants, you would rather just insinuate lying. Grow up.

"What should I have done?" - It was the very last question posed in the post BEFORE I gave an answer as to what I did.

You're kidding me, right? (I am assuming you are Caucasian.) If you were in a line, surrounded by Asians, with an Asian cashier and the five people in front of you were not asked for their ID's to make $20, $30, $50 dollar purchases, and then YOU are asked for an ID to make a $3 purchase...

You're telling me that you would calmly just say, "OK... I left it in the car, let me go get it." DOES ANYBODY WHO HAS READ THIS THREAD ACTUALLY BELIEVE THAT? Just given your response to my posts, I call BS on that.

But basically, in your little mind, we should just let people treat us any which way and just take it like good, little sheeple...? OK. That makes sense.

As to the rest:
It is called "providing context". I described my appearance as it was because to not do so would be intellectually dishonest and provides context to the situation. I could have just as easily omitted it and let the story really make it sound like this person made a decision based solely on race (or as you put it, "exaggerate"). I put that in there because it is how it happened... which is the intellectually honest thing to do. Learn it. It is YOU who took the descriptions to the worst possible degree. Most people have been on a day hike before and probably understood what I meant by dirty, etc.

HONESTLY, if the cashier had said with a smile, "Oh, well, you look pretty dirty and I just want to be sure this is your card," I probably would have said, "Yeah, I just came off of hiking... sorry. OK, let me run out and get it". (BTW - Parking at this attraction, if anybody has been there is a way off - not just a matter of walking out the door to your car). "STORE POLICY" was her firm, unwavering reply. THAT is the problem I had and one which in all your brilliance, and apparent eagerness to defend this person, you have yet to explain.

You are the one that said you stunk, smelled and were filthy, not me, your words .

If you're going to try and quote someone... do it correctly. Those were NOT my words.

I said, "...I was dirty, poorly dressed, and probably smelled terrible."

DIRTY does not equal FILTHY in degrees. (Would you rather use a dirty restroom or a filthy restroom?)

I will give you "smelled terrible" although in the CONTEXT, it was meant partially as a joking description, not as an actual, serious descriptor. Poor wording there on my part, but I honestly didn't really think someone would take that to the extent that you did, basically reeking like (this is how you do it correctly), "...the person sitting outside asking for change, smell like you haven't showered in days..."

So, you took "...dirty, poorly dressed, and probably smelled terrible" translated that into "...the person sitting outside asking for change, smell like you haven't showered in days..." and then you can say:

"I didn't make it sound any different then you explained BTW..."

???? Now who is more prone to embellishing their stories? You... or me?

So when you are in line you listen to everything the cashier does? Not really believable but it is possible, boring but possible.

....if you had taken your own advice you would never have come up with this little gem of an inanity. What could possibly be your problem w/ believing that. You're in line by yourself...you're not "listening"...you overhear the transactions because you're within earshot. You observe them b/c you're standing in a line w/ nothing else to do. Looks to me like you got some personal issues to deal with, dude
Bottom line is this: Store policy is store policy...it should apply to every customer regardless of how light, dark, fragrant or snazzily dressed they are.

LoL... So, this is what you resort to. Insults. WAAAAHHHHH! If you think you're hurting my feelings... think again. There is (literally) nothing you could possibly say that I haven't actually heard before.

Like most idiots when confronted with their own stupidity, you haven't honestly addressed any of the questions I asked you... yet you continue to make up your own questions to some imagined something I said. But for benefit of the doubt, I'll ask again:

How can it not be interpreted as racist to process five transactions as described, pick me out, then answer "Store Policy" ?

Can you HONESTLY (at this point I doubt you have that capacity) say that you would have felt differently?

Tell me... where did I say that "Asians have it [so] tough?" or do ANY complaining? QUOTE IT BACK TO ME. You can't because I never said it.

You see, the problem with people like you is that you have this incorrect assumption that you should be able to just say whatever the hell you want and not have to back it up... not have to provide an explanation... not have to answer the questions posed back to you. You just twist words, ask your own questions (which I answered), and then become childish when someone challenges you.

The sad part is that it actually IS the fans that failed. :(

I am a little abashed that with your smarts you can't change a fan... :( Please say something ultra witty so I can rub off that small tarnish.

Guess you didn't enjoy that drink then did you, I would have.

Yes people do that, when asked for the ID get one.

BTW since when did Asians have it so tough? Did I miss something?

One more thing, what does the credit card say for your name? Robert? That may be a problem.

BTW Genius. There are these things called cars... which you can drive on these things called roads... which often lead to stores... which often contain drinks...

I went a few miles down the road, jumped out, got the same drink and same chips. Paid for it with the same CC. Cashier didn't even blink twice. Guess they had a more lenient "Store Policy".

Of course I can replace the fan, what I can't do is void the warranty on a $1,200 slate. Besides, the video card suffered heat damage and since it's an integrated part of the motherboard it means I'd basically have to replace the computer if it wasn't still covered under the extended warranty. Sea! I gots teh smartz!

However, I do accept your explanation and restore you to the unblemished vision I once had. Now I must go crank one out to the picture of you bending over your computer. Sweet dreams tonight!

If you can't take the drama, if you can't stand up for stuff and if you take offence at one or two idiots, then you probably shouldn't participate in an online forum.

You've dug yourself a seriously deep hole here.

My advice would be to stop digging before you get to China, or maybe even Korea.

Krissy is more than capable of looking after herself, but I'm curious to know if your beef is to make out that the cashier somehow wasn't being racist or if you're challenging Krissy's account of the events. Or maybe it's both. Or neither.

Oh fuck it, I've lost the will to live. :(

No, I didn't bring my ID in that time... and the cashier didn't ask.

Why in the world is the name on the card relevant at all?

Answer: It isn't.

Unless, of course, you believe that only White people have White-people-sounding-names... whatever the hell that means.

In which case, you have some major, major problems with how you view the world.

So again, I have answered your question. WILL YOU ANSWER ANY OF MINE? Yeah... didn't think so. Grow a pair or STFU. You're now just wasting air bloviating.

GroobyKrissy

Let me write your stupid answer for you.

"The name is relevant because if you don't look like the person on the card, that is why she asked."

1. Take your card out of your wallet. Now handle it like you're giving it to somebody across a counter. Chances are your thumb hides part of the name. Chances are also high that standing straight up, across an approximately 3' counter, you cannot distinguish the name from the card. This is a security feature of most CC's these days to make fraud harder... i.e. - a person cannot stand with a camera and take a picture of your card to read later. The background is the same color as the lettering. 3 of the four cards I have (business debit, personal debit, and 2 CC's) are designed this way.

2. Even if she miraculously was able to read the name, irrelevant anyway. Explain away the "Store Policy" answer and her handling of the previous transactions. I've given you several opportunities now. You haven't. You can't.

You're grasping at straws because your argument on behalf of this individual is so incredibly weak. Keep grasping... I'm curious as to what your next spin will be. Although, I could probably write that for you as well.

First off, not the smartest thing in the world NOT to bring you id with you, but I never accused you of that.

What does the name mean? Did you really just say that? Well I guess you did I had to re-read it. Think about it. :ignore:

Is it Robert, Jeff, Thomas, Bruce? What name is on the card.

You really are an idiot. To this point, I was just kind of using the word to make a point. Now it is pretty clear that you really are. I suppose I should offer some sort of apology for being so tough on the mentally challenged. So, I apologize. I sincerely thought you were operating with a somewhat full mental capacity. OK, since you have ceased ANY and ALL attempts at having an actual dialogue, I'm done with you.

House (Hugh Laurie) lives in the next village to me. I'm trying to find a way to get him to do a gig locally. For those who aren't already aware, he's a very capable and dedicated blues musician, great on both guitar and piano.

Apologies for the brief hijack. Back to you, ladies.

Franklin is a mess, hes full of shit and doesnt know a damn thing about this industry! Its sad that he is black! LOL

But Steven is right if you cant stand up for yourself or deal with criticism then this isnt the biz for you. Trust me I know that first hand! Being too fat, or too many tats, or not pretty, etc. I have heard it all! Doesnt help that companies are the same way!

While I do agree with the overall sentiment, I do also think that true, abject racism impacts people far more permanently than you realize, unless you've experienced it yourself. I'm not saying that Caucasians don't experience it, but even then, I think it is far different than when it is experienced by a minority.

The incident I mentioned here bothered me for weeks afterwards (Why? What did I do? Why did this person act this way? What is my worth? etc. etc.), and I'm typically the type to bounce back pretty quickly from downers. So, I can understand on a forum, where racism is perceived (rightly or wrongly), why it can lead to an, "I'm leaving" type thread. I don't really think that is the way to handle things but I understand and sympathize with the sentiment for sure.

Personally, I think that the "deal with criticism" line is a pretty easy out for people. Criticism, by and large, can be addressed... and corrected. Your race cannot be "corrected". It is this "core" element of racism that makes it so insidious and hurtful, and unlike most any other "criticism" that can be leveled against a person.

Again! Nobody said that all black tgirls are ugly. Many forum members have said over the years that some of the black models on the said site are ugly. However, they recognized many popular and attractive models like Amber. They like black tgirls and want to see more attractive girls like Amber.

Let's be real. There are unattractive(by society's standards) people from all races.

How is it sad that I am black? Being black doesn't mean that I have to like black women sexually. People are free to be sexually attracted to anyone the like.

Nobody questions a white man preferring black women. However, everyone questions a black man who prefers white women. It's a crappy double standard in our society. Black men are criticized by their peers for liking white women. White women are questioned by their peers for liking black men.

Nobody was questioning the white male members about their taste in black women. However, everyone just had to jump on me the black guy who likes white women.

ok, well I have not read every post on here about this subject and I do not like racism when it is real, but however people deserve to have their freedom of speech. That being said, it is the same thing as taunting and bullying when it is happening. If you take offense to it, that gives it more power, and gives the bully more power. Now the word nigger, should not be offensive it is only peoples perspective that makes it offensive. The word Nigger which just refers to black people as a noun, from spanish and Portuguese languages, but they also got it from the latin for black which is niger, Which just stands for the color black, and is not a racist term in its own right, calling a black person a nigger is the same as calling a white person white. That being said, people abuse these words and are racist with them, I do not condone that, but you also are only giving them power by being offended by it, just laugh at them next time, cause all they are really calling you is black skinned
