Are there any TS parties in Los Angeles other than Hamburger Marys and Transfix?

I searched the forums but didn't find too much more up-to-date info.

Thanks!

I don't know what is happening in this crazy city, but it seems that we have less TS venues than we did in times past. They seem to be evaporating. One would think there would be more as time progresses. Quien Sabe? :shrug

Wow! I had no idea. I haven't been to a bar in a year or two however. Strike that. I have gone to Tempo recently and have met some nice girls. However, I was never told about any parties.

i've never been to a ts related bar in my life. purely by chance, i met some people who gave me the contacts to a couple who were part of these parties. that's how i got hooked up. never been to one myself.

Interesting. You always here about Buddy Wood's parties, but I've never been invited to one.

I, stuck working late during the week...so it's only The Oxwood for me. However I haven't been in a LONG time; been hanging with friends instead...

I know what you mean about venues leaving. We used to have a multiple choice!

Enjoy Peanuts at Tempo tonight...

I went to the Oxwood a handful of times about 4 or 5 years ago. I never enjoyed the small space, and most of the "girls" looked like a bulldog in a dress with some lipstick and a wig. Not my style. Perhaps it is better now.

Yes, my best times were at Peanuts. The Queen Mary was fun once in awhile as well. And then there was the Yukon coffee shop after hours. All that has evaporated.

These things run in cycles it seems.
Buddy Wood tried to get something going in the Valley, and it was good for a while, then *poof*.

I think the girls sabotage the nights sometimes. Too much drama sometimes.

There's still Mon. nite at MJ's, Weds. & Sat. nites at Oxwood, Thurs. nite at Cobra, Fri. nite at Tempo.

Did I miss any?

My complaint is that there aren't enough low key places where non-pros can go to drink, dance and converse. Most "quiet" (for lack of a better term) girls would never think about going to some of these places.

I agree Foggy. I wish there were more low key joints.

Maybe there are some low key joints.

So low key I don't know about 'em...:geek:

Oxwood comes close on Weds. nite, but it's pretty dead most times I've traveled over there. There was a lounge on Ventura Blvd. that had a TS nite once a week last year...R something. That was ok, but it's always the same crowd.

I must be getting old...I'd rather meet an interesting girl than have some brash silcon'd ass wiggled in my face.

Frat House in Garden Grove! Just kidding...although some fine assed young Latinas do pop up in there.

Peanuts 2.0 and The Yukon circa 2001-2004 was LEGENDARY. Club Cobra 1.0 was close.

Then that is a problem, the promoters at these clubs need to get the word out. :ignore:

Foggy, thanks for the tips on Tempo and Oxwood. That's the info I was looking for. I'll check out Tempo tonight.

The reason most of these places don't last is because they are littered with nothing but hookers looking for clients. The Palms was the worst! Once at The Palms I approached a cute girl and introduced myself, while talking to her, she obviously didn't have time for small talk (texting while I was talking to her), after about 3 minutes, while in mid sentence, she literally walks away from me when her phone rings to take a call. Not a sign to wait a minute, or i'll be right back I need to take this, just plain walks away. Extremely rude and obnoxious!

Guys want a place they can go to actually meet a girl to talk to, dance, have fun, and maybe meet someone they might be able to date (I know, don't laugh too hard) and its obvious the hookers have no time for that. If I wanted a hooker, I'd look on Eros or Backpage.

When I go out I don't want to be worked over by a bunch of girls looking for their next trick, I want to have some fun and possibly meet someone. If there is no possibility of meeting someone, then whats the point in even bothering to go out?

There was a point in time, maybe circa 2005 and prior, that you could go out to one of these clubs (Peanuts, HM, Cobra 1.0) and actually meet a potential date, but those days seem to be long gone now and even the youngest girls coming onto the scene are escorting from the start.

The thing is, there are lots of non-escort trans out there... but they don't hang around the clubs (because they are finding the same things the guys are at these places).

I went to oxwood a while ago, and it was really seedy. What's worse is the guys were all hiding in corners looking afraid (lol), my guess is they were chasers who have fantasized about trans for a long time...and finally actually got out of the house.

It was just all pretty sad. A normal club has a lot of pretty confident guys, people having fun, a more lively atmosphere (and better dressed people)... but trans clubs have an weird uncomfortable "down low" type of atmosphere going on (where it seems the guys are afraid to even be seen... which makes trans people feel even worse).

Yea, if I am going to a club I would much rather hit the ones in weho like rasputin or something. At least the guys there have a bit of confidence and don't behave like highschool kids at their first dance :|

This is precisely why I don't go to the bars anymore. I too used to meet regular non working girls and would create friendships. Unfortunately that seems to be in the past.

I haven't been to Peanuts at Tempo yet, but I have been going to Tempo on and off for the last 3 or 4 years. The reason I liked it was that a lot of girls weren't working. They were there just to have fun. Hopefully that will continue.

There are alot of parties thru the group USA(United Sex addicts). They have something always going on.

Dare I say, if you excluded the "working girls", you might attract the non-pro girls out, and lose the creepy lurking guys in the dark corners too.

If the guys know they might actually be able to meet non-pro girls, it would in turn attract them out as well!

Just a thought, but I know its a tall order.....

Nothing, and I mean NOTHING will top Cobra circa 2008/2009. It was crowded, stars routinely frequented it, and it had a major edge. Edge as in you might get shanked by trola with sharpee eyebrows.

That being said, today's Cobra is most definitely the best club around. It draws a good crowd, Aubrey is amazing, and it's not out deep in the boonies of the Valley or Long Beach. Also, I feel like it's the only club the major stars will go to. Perhaps I've been to the others too infrequently, but it's my opinion. I've recently seen Danika Dreamsz, Yasmin Lee, Honey Foxxx, Eva Lin, Chanel Couture, and the incomparable Christian to name a few. MJ's is ok, and is basically a smaller version of Cobra's crowd/vibe. Oxwood and Hamburger Mary's are just disappointing in my opinion. Too many lurker dudes and too many CD's.

Another thread was bemoaning the death of the TS club. It's not dead, not by a long shot, but it has lost its glory. It needs to change. The old paradigm was this: the clubs were mostly meat markets for working girls, and it also happened to be one of the sure bets for guys who liked tgirls to meet the girls (working and non) and vice versa. Producers came to scope talent, and the talent came to be seen. Craigslist, backpage, etc. have cut deep into the meat market aspect. Dating sites and facebook etc. have provided even safer avenues for men and tgirls (and everything in between) to meet each other. While I love Aubrey's show the best, the old paradigm of meeting space with the backdrop of a drag/ts review lip syncing Donna Summer is old hat. It needs a revamp. There is, as anyone with eyes on this forum would know, a burgeoning queer culture out there who would love a place to play, but don't want to go to a club filled with lurking chaser trolls and working girls. Something's gotta give. Ideas welcome. I'll be sipping my Tecate at Cobra tonight. Say hello.

Gonna repost this in other relevant threads.

I gonna be in LA in a couple weeks. I've seen good comments about Club Cobra on Thu and Peanuts on Fri (in this thread). Are these still happening? Does anyone have any other recommendations?

Thanks all.

Any new places to go in Hollywood for tgirls since circus circus closed? I've never seen many girls at Abbey.
